唐人轩 — Restaurant in Guangzhou City

This is on the entire fourth floor of this run-down and dilapidated building. You can't miss it because the decor is such a contrast to the drab exterior shops which were still closed when it was about 11AM.

The food is delicious and a mix of Cantonese, Teochew and Northeastern. I ordered a mixed meat platter, stir-fried choysum, stewed goose intestines chilled cucumbers and fried rice.

The mixed platter, chilled cucumbers and goose intestines took too long to arrive (about 30 minutes) which is unusual because these are pre-prepared and ready to go foods. It was the vegetables and fried rice that came first.

The staff are inattentive for a not-too-busy morning. Those that served me were not familiar with the menu and as a result, some items that I wanted were missing from the mixed platter. One item was repeated in an a la carte order because the staff did not know it was available on the mixed platter.

The other thing that annoyed me was the mismatched teapot whose lid was from another pot; because it did not fit properly, each time I poured the tea, half of it was lost to the tea tray.

Nevertheless, it was an overall pleasant enough meal. Be able to read Chinese and order in Mandarin or Cantonese. Diners are a majority of Cantonese-speaking people so it suggests that it still has the Cantonese spirit...
