There are TWO Bingshengs in this same building. One called Bingsheng Taste and the other Bingsheng Mansion. They each have their own entrance. Both have equally grand receptions, as well as similar decors and furnishings. As far as we can make it, Bingsheng Mansion has more dimsums and a slightly smaller a la carte menu. This review is for Bingsheng Mansion.
We ordered a mixture of six dimsums and small dishes, plus two desserts. The quality was average at best, and two were downright poor. The bill came to that of Hong Kong Michelin restaurants, which was way, way above similar restaurants in the area in Guangzhou. The roast pigeon, for example, was ¥68, but it was for a half pigeon (!) and must be ordered in pairs. Our roast pigeon came to ¥136, more than twice than the one we had nearby the following day, just as good. We would NOT recommend this restaurant at all. I believe that Bingsheng Mansion has the best crispy pork I’ve ever had in my life. The crispiness exceeds expectations and practically melts in your mouth. Bingsheng Mansion is the most premium branch among all the Bingsheng locations, both in terms of quality and price. I recommend trying their claypot dishes—the crispy rice at the bottom adds a wonderful texture, and the aroma is irresistible.
