I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with my recent visit to your Hong Kong branch on January 7, 2024.
I have been a fan of Bubba Gump for several years, having had a wonderful experience at your restaurant before the COVID pandemic. During my last visit, I distinctly remember enjoying the Net Catch Entrée Garlic (beer prawn), which was absolutely superb.
Regrettably, my recent experience was far from satisfactory. I ordered the same Net Catch Entrée Garlic, expecting the delicious dish I had previously savored. To my surprise, I was served a dish that bore no resemblance to what I had enjoyed in the past.
Coincidentally, my daughter recently visited Bubba Gump in Tokyo and shared a picture of the Net Catch Entrée Garlic she had there (picture with just prawns, no vegetable). The stark contrast between the dish she had in Tokyo and what I received in Hong Kong is undeniable. The Tokyo dish was exactly as I remembered – featuring prawns in a garlic beer sauce.
However, the dish I received in Hong Kong was a letdown. Instead of the expected beer prawns, the plate contained a few prawns accompanied by an assortment of potatoes, peas, corn, and tomatoes. This deviation from the original recipe was shocking and highly disappointing.
I have attached a picture for your reference, clearly indicating the distinction between the Tokyo and Hong Kong versions of the Net Catch Entrée Garlic. This experience has left me with no intention of returning to the Hong Kong branch of Bubba Gump.
It's important to note that the quality of the dish was not the only issue – the meal was also relatively expensive. As a loyal customer, I had expected a consistent and satisfying dining experience, but unfortunately, this was not the case.
I hope all of you take this feedback seriously, as it reflects my genuine disappointment and concerns about the current standards at your Hong Kong branch. I believe in the potential of Bubba Gump to deliver exceptional dining experiences, and I hope this incident is addressed to maintain the reputation your brand has built over the years.
I had the mussels too.. that was not too bad.,
Don't waste your money on this dish if you insist on...
Read moreIf you’re looking for tasteless, fried food, with poor service and a dull atmosphere, this is just the place for you! Its a blatant rip off tourist trap that gives a perception of huge portions, alas they’re not because the base of each dish is stuffed with shredded cabbage to bulk it up to look like a huge portions. They took our drink order (2 drinks) and immediately forgot them, twice.. we had to ask twice more for our drinks which arrived after the meal started.the place is a greedy tourist trap, demanding minimum spend at the door/minimum main courses, then caps time spent there, expect to pay in excess of HKD$1,000 for four people, since for two of us, with one soft and one alcoholic beverage it cost us HKD$783 and the bland tasteless fried food wasn’t memorable, what was memorable was the rubbish service, the crap food and the tourist trap rip off scam - please note this establishment also owns the so called ‘free entry’ part of the ticket for selfie photos, so expect to get scammed for photos there too, HKD$180 per photo, dare to ask for the digital copy emailed and these scammers want a further HKD$150 PER DIGITAL PHOTO, I suggest not letting yourself be misled by the admission booth at the bottom for Peak Tram and don’t bother paying the upgrade for the ‘free entry’ exhibit, there is no exhibit, it’s just a scam opportunity full of photo booths and they ban you from using your cellphone/video/gopro etc.. shame on you for...
Read moreThe food is as great as always. This is the second time we visit this branch and the reason for the 3 stars is their snobbish attitude towards guests + their insistence on ordering as many food items as guests. This is written on the outside of the restaurant because the place is coveted due to its wonderful views from the peak. However, we bought an extra drink that was not cheap + picked some of the items on the menu on the more expensive side; so obviously it wasn't about saving money for us but about ordering what we really wanted. Still the waiter insisted quite annoyingly on adding a food item. Of course we ended up with so much take away and since we hate waste we ended up spending our last few days in HK eating old food instead of trying new restaurants. It was extremely annoying. Most of the staff also have a very snobbish attitude, like you are entering heavens' doors not just a very regular fast food restaurant. Coz at the end of the day, delicious or not it IS mainly a fried food restaurant. This was not the attitude at all when we came some 11 years ago and it is not appreciated at all. Even the shop staff, the lady was super friendly and courteous, the guy was v cold and unwelcoming till he realized we really are buying and quite a few items not just looking, then he became super nice. It takes away a lot from the experience for all Forrest Gump fans....
