This review is for our wedding lunch and will be a long review. I would first say that the interior and exterior of the building look quite impressive and overall we still had an amazing time with our guests.

However, our path to getting there was painful thanks in large part to your employee in charge of events (we will refer to her as Q). She added unnecessary uncertainty and stress to planning our important day. To begin it all - the first time we scheduled a lunch to come visit and discuss with Q, she no-showed with no explanation. We instead had to discuss with an employee at the restaurant who did not know answers to any of our questions and only told us to contact Q again later. We tried to get her to meet again and it seemed clear that she didn't want to meet at the restaurant, instead telling us to meet at a coffee shop in Central - but actually she said there was no need to meet in person, even though we wanted to ask her many questions about how we could use the space. Getting a hold of her was beyond a challenge - emails in the beginning would be sent and not returned for days and days, and when we finally got in contact with her by phone she would say she's on holiday. An out of office notification or simply telling us she was going to be away would have been sufficient but was not done.

Later, when she sent us the basic agreement with meal plans and after we agreed to it, she sent it back for us to sign - but with a different menu and without mentioning the change (questionable whether she noticed). Only when we checked and inquired she said it had changed but that they would honour the original because that...was what they sent to us only days before... We then sent back the signed agreement and asked to pay by credit card (which was one of the options) and we replied to her email asking for the credit card payment link. Again, no reply for days and we phone her and she is again on holiday and will send us the link the following week. We phone her the following week and she just says she didn't receive the email from us.... Then why not phone us if we told you we already sent it to you? We sent it again and she's still not receiving it. Email is difficult. We sent a third time and this time with a google drive link and she says now she's got it and will send it to the payment accounts people. If this is a problem with your email provider not accepting large files then you need to sort that out or notify people before because we don't get any notifications that they don't go through.

Later on we provided her our table arrangements and she agreed to our setup as being acceptable. However, when we sent an email about our guest's food list, she asked us which set menu our food was from (why doesn't she know this or look at previous emails, or the attached contract agreement even) and then asked us to confirm the attached floor plan - which was different than ours - and she seemed to have forgotten our previous emails.

The first time we ever saw Q in person was when she showed up on the lunch day and said hello. I forgot to mention that we were told on the wedding day that their freezer was broken and they did not have enough of our desired desserts, but honestly that was a very small thing compared to the rest. We also didn't know tablecloths would be provided (we brought our own but they had already setup theirs), that menus would be printed, and that they would make a welcome board for the entrance (we printed our own board and brought easels with us).

Your key employee showed poor initiative in speaking to us or getting back to our communications in a timely manner. It honestly felt to us like we had to force your restaurant to take our money, even though we paid a significant amount.

I wonder how much business your restaurant has lost because of this employee. I would be happy to speak to anyone at the restaurant to discuss the above issues if it would help future guests on their important day.

Nonetheless, thank you for letting us use your...

Would i reccomend this places? It is a no for me. If you are a tourist and never tried it then maybe if everything else is closed. Please read below to find out more.

Amazing and beautiful place, as we arrived at 9pm we were warmly greeted by the staff and as we sat down we were kindly reminded that last orders where at 9.30pm as they shut at 10pm. We then swiftly placed our drinks order first within 2 minutes and subsequently our food within 7 minutes (more about the food order and the food in a bit).

Our drinks arrived swiftly which was amazing and soon after our food was served just before 9.25. At this point another server came round asking if we wanted to add anything as it is last orders and again kindly reminding us that they shut at 10pm.

We then proceed to try and enjoy our food, at 9.30 another staff member brings us our bill and kindly asks to pay the bill first when we were barely half way through our food (which we thought was a bit disrepectful and rude as they did say they don't shut till 10pm so why do we need to pay the bill so quickly? As much as last orders has past they should be mindlful to let their guests finish their food before presenting the bill or at least let them almost finish their food) again they kindly reminded us they shut at 10pm.

Around 9.45 as we finished our meal, we were trying to enjoy our cocktails and nice atmosphere another server comes along to "kindly" remind us that they shut at 10pm. In 45 minutes we were told a total of 4 times that they close at 10pm which is excessive unless they think we have some form of short term memory loss.

Now moving on the the food order and food itself. We ordered a buffalo wings, rogan josh, squid ink pasta and sirloin steak.

The steak at almost 500hkd only came with sauce and grilled garlic. Since it was our first time dining here we did not realise the steak did not come with any sides what so ever especially for 500hkd which is roughly £50 .The server failed to ask if we wanted any sides with the steak when we didn't add any which clearly shows a lack of attention to detail in the service.

In comparison to other high end places such as the ivy, raddison blue or the goodman i woukd say these places have better steaks which are slightly cheaper and better quality or at least comes with sides. The steak was also on the chewy side even though it was cooked to medium weldone.

Regarding the rest of the food the flavour and portion sizes where not bad but again a little over priced for what it was even if it is a high end tourist spot.

The only saving grace where the drinks that was acceptable.

Overall servers tone and a attitude were positive however they were leaning towards being a little expressionless. I hope this review is helpful for anyone thinking of trying...

Came here for wedding celebration with very high expectations given the price range of the place and its location.

The exterior was the only thing that was good about the place, you gotta give them that. The service, however, was the worst one I have ever encountered in Hong Kong in the last 6 years.

We were seated outside and we had to ask at least 5 times to turn the heaters on. Heaters weren’t working properly, I guess out of gas, so we were freezing for the rest of the evening (if you want to sit inside, sorry to disappoint but it is AS cold as outside). Waiters are extremely slow, they served the food before serving us the plates so we had to sit there and wait for 10 mins until the waiter brings us plates for us to put the food on. We waited and waited but waiter kept bringing 3 plates at a time. We asked for tea pot since there were lot of people who wanted to drink tea, but they brought only 1 cup of tea per pot. When we asked for more cups, we were refused as they have a policy of one cup per pot - ridiculous, right?

We had to wait for mains after appetisers arrived for at least 40 mins. Again, we felt like begging for every little thing we asked from stuff, as if they were doing us a favor by serving us.

We brought our own cake and they charged us a 100HK$ for cutting fee which is acceptable, but they didn’t even cut the cake or bring the knife - we had to ask them to bring the knife and cut it ourselves . What did we pay the cutting fee for?

They called me prior to our arrival asking what should they write on our dessert to congratulate us with the wedding - but no dessert nor congrats were given by any staff members. When we left, no one said goodbye and we didn’t feel welcomed at all.

There were 12 of us that evening and the bill was also impressive, but the service ruined everything for us. It’s the first time I felt so unwelcomed in such a high class restaurant.

If administration is reading this - please, train your staff or get new ones. With the current service level, I am going to be discouraging everyone I know from coming to...

We had our simple wedding at The Peak Lookout last weekend, and it was our great honour to be their first customer after the renovation completed. It has made our wedding much more meaningful and memorable. Environment - both garden area and dining area are comfortable and spacious. And of course the amenities are in perfect condition as the whole venue was renovated. Thank you Mr. Grant Baird, Mrs. Baird and his team for all the hard work throughout the whole renovation project. They worked non stop for countless weekends and the makeover turns out amazing! F&B - not lying but the food quality was overall impressive! The feedback on food and beverages from our guests were almost 100% excellent! Especially the live oyster on half shell (extremely fresh!), smoked beef short ribs (tendor and very beefy!), Nasi Goreng, red curry duck and etc… We had 30 items for our buffet and none of them disappointed us. Service - we cannot complain a thing on this, we never met a catering team as professional as them! They were just marvelous, and unbelievably attentive, polite and helpful. They were always there showing up next to you, right at the moment you need something. We would like to thank Queenie Fan, The Sales and Event Manager (very responsive the past few months); Hegel, Catering Manager; Jason, Catering Supervisor; Cedric, Catering Assistant Manager, and the rest of the team. The event would not be this smooth without their assistance.

The Peak Lookout is a Hong Kong institution, but unfortunately, it gradually became rundown over the years, then closed during Covid years. So it was a pleasant surprise to see it had reopened and have been renovated. The outdoor patio had a big makeover, with new decking, much better quality tables and chairs, and colourful plants. It was very pleasant and relaxing to dine there surrounded by all the greenery. The menu remained substantially unchanged. All our favourites were still there, and prices were reasonable for the location. Portion sizes a little smaller than from memory. Service was efficient and friendly. There were even a few smiling young waitresses, so rare in Hong Kong. It is a must go restaurant for visitors to Hong Kong. Update December 2024 We revisited almost exactly a year later and ordered exactly the same dishes. Sadly, the quality of food had drastically gone down. Change in management ? Cook ? Cost saving ? The rice in Hainan chicken was clearly the leftover from the previous day. Even worse, the tandoori chicken was hard and dry, probably precooked many days earlier in bulk, slapped on with some fresh sauce, and grilled before servicing. It's not a place we will ever go back for the food, but maybe just a drink for the environment.

I have been at the cafe twice! 2012 & 2016, the first visit was amazing! The food was so fresh and delicious! The past time I visited , I was very disappointed. I was treated with poor service was disappointed in our food, it was awful and the waiter disrespectful. First time I ever felt that way traveling in another country, Usually in Hong Kong, it’s transparent and warmly inviting. Back to my first trip in 2012, it was a great restaurant and that’s why I wanted to go back. The building has rustic charm, you can dine alfresco, the patio is beautiful with white linen covered tables, flowers growing everywhere, trees light up with tiny lights. Quite a treat! The price was expensive for the US dollar, Would I go again? I’m not sure, there are so many other wonderful places to dine in Hong Kong.... I certainly would not want to have the experience again that I had in 2016. That may have been just a bad night for the waiter....but, we did not feel welcome to dine there. Maybe our attire was not correct for the evening dining? No sure, will I be back ?
