I give a 4 to this place for the food & price, not the set up, it’s old & shabby! Village house style, 3 floors, main a few small tables, second left right room providing large tables & 3rd 2 large room for private parties. Small seafood places set up are alike in Lei Yue Mun are alike, so you are there for fresh seafood & the way they prepare! We gathered on 3rd, room, no corkage charge👍 First came a few dishes of appertisers, “thousand year egg accompany by sweet sour ginger” a local delight, but an acquired taste. Deep fry tofu is popular & quite nice. Main show starts jumbo geoclam from Vancouver sashimi over ice😱 so so 😋 Then another sashimi live big squid, totally difference texture, those who like would truly enjoy. 3rd dish steam shrimp a local popular way of enjoy the true sweet taste of shrimp meat, nice & fresh! Steam abalone another local favourite, steam scallops with deep fry garlic, must try! Huge mantis shrimp “under bridge spicy crab” style cooking, a local flavour must try! Sea escargots “snells” steam in salt exceptional good. So many dishes need a break! Then came the authentic “Under bridge spicy crab” delicious, deep fried grr geoclam body & veggie to finish this seafood celebration🥂🥂 Though the place is a shabby shack, but food is no doubt pride of HK style seafood!!! Last, but not the least, price, not cheap for the various seafood we ordered, but way lower then their neighbours or other areas like Sau Kung. They way they charge is by the weight of each seafood plus cooking charge mischief like many steak butcher style restaurants, feather & bone” type. If you are looking for tasty seafood feast in a casual way, this...
Read moreWe were introduced to 鲫鱼门 for seafood by the friendly and chatty taxi driver. It's turns out to be the right decision - there were many seafood restaurants. We picked some live seafood from their tanks, before bringing in the food to the restaurant to cook. We were charged for the food processing fee/per person, with food cooked in a few different ways. It was reasonably priced for seafood in Hong Kong at 1,660HKD. We didn't take pictures of the black bean stir fry clams. As for transport, it's about 10min walk from the MTR station - but to note, there is a steep slope up and down...
Read moreSeafood bought from the store next to the restaurant. The dishes were well-cooked, but I guess every restaurant offers similar quality in that area. I really liked the congee made with the remaining of the geoduck.
BUT, hygiene was POOR. Smell of cigarettes in the private dining room, old wall paper and table cloth. Worst part — we were dining with a gigantic cockroach the whole time. Didn’t make a big fuss because of our low expectation on these things for a restaurant like this. So we just quickly gobbled down everything and left. (That’s why some of the food pics...
