Pat Sin Bakery — Restaurant in Hong Kong

Bookmarked this place for their famous century egg pastry (皮蛋酥) which costs a whooping HKD 25 but fair play, it's quite big and heavy. Whole century egg in a sweet gingery filling in a flaky pastry shell. It was ok. The sweet gingery filling was unexpected and overpowering. We thought it would be lotus seeds filling like the ones sold in UK. I was just able to finish it whilst my husband couldn't tolerate the strong ginger flavour.

We also bought a mini wife cake (老婆餅) and Salted egg yolk pastry (咸蛋酥) that contains lotus seeds filling. They were really good; tasted fresh from the oven and not too sweet. We were glad that we had these first before the overpowering sweet ginger from the century egg...

The old wifey cakes are great and the red bean pastry is amazing. The staff was friendly so we walked a bit from the station to get there but it was definitely worth it.

Dont get why it has 3.8 stars...
