I have been recently at the Oriental Lander, between 8th and 20th of October 2022. The location is just some hundreds meter from Prince Edward mtr station, which is convenient to go to the TST area, the West Kowloon and to the island. It is also a walking distance from Mong Kok and the Langham. For people looking for some good second hand bargain, Sham Shui Po mtr station it is also not too far, and it is surrounded by streets offering quite a lot (second hand cameras and smartphone, tools shops, t-shirts, flea market... the lot). The Olympic mtr station, on a line useful to go to Airport, it is at around 800 mt. So, I was quite happy with the location. The hotel is clean, housekeeping doing her jobs. Pity the use of thick carpet in rooms and corridors (my gosh, but why in a subtropical area?) usually SO difficult to keep it in good condition. Service: the hotel does not offer breakfast or meals. People at the reception were good, especially two of them, that I want to mention: Cyrus and Cliff. Cliff was very helpful on my arrival, and indicate me with precision the closest Community Center where to get my PCR test and print report (which I need in order to eventually go to Shenzhen), including opening times and directions. With Cyrus I did interact a couple of times, and he was always showing keenness to help. They also spoke good English, something getting rarer in Hong Kong. Facilities: the bed in my room was barely long enough for a weeny guy like me (165 cm height), and it was perfectly set between 2 walls. A guy or a gal over 170 cm would have some troubles. The mattress it was on the soft side, with springs, ok to sleep on for a couple of days, then a bit uncomfortable (I stayed there almost 2 weeks). The room had a window, but not possible to open it. Pity.On the departing day, you're supposed to leave the room by 12:00. I had to return to the hotel at around 8 pm, because my flight was late at night. I was in need of the toilet, but I was surprised to know that there were not toilets available in the hall. And I could not use a room toilet, apparently. So I had to get ready for an unwanted routine of Kegel exercises, on my way to the airport. The room rate was very reasonable, and I...
Read moreDON’T. BOOK. HERE. Booking this hotel was probably the worst decision I ever made in my life besides choosing art as a major. As soon as I walk in, I smell mold & cigarettes. Despite of the fact that it’s a smoke free hotel, the entire hallway smelled like a cigarette. Next thing I notice is weird red stains, someone’s hair (my hair is red and it was long black one and another one looked like a pubic hair). I was too tired so I tried to just rest but then I start coughing and I see HUGE amount of dust. I scraped it, it was THICK dust it looked like it wasn’t cleaned for years cos it’s GREENISH. I made a complaint through hotels.com cos I couldn’t speak from coughing. receptionist and a woman comes and I don’t speak the language but I can feel her attitude&body language. She asked me (guy translated for me) why didn’t I turn on AC (…because it has molds & it’s cold?), tells me to open the bathroom door and turn on Ventilation so the smell goes away. The washroom doesn’t even have a door stop. How am I supposed to do that? They did change the room to a smaller one (I booked 2 beds) which was better, then I found an opened CONDOM packaging. I just left and booked another hotel. The younger guy receptionist (Anthony) was a sweetheart, he kept checked in if I can breathe well or if I wanna change to bigger room next day. Besides him, NOTHING was ok. Hygiene is the bare minimum mandatory thing hotels should take care of. + I asked them for at least partial refunds because the room they changed me into is not what I booked and refused because I didn’t talk to the receptionist. Clean your hotel so that dust allergic ppl like me...
Read moreidk how this hotel has even scraped a 3 star review. ive stayed in plenty of hotels and this is in my bottom 2. the rooms are peeling wallpaper and tiny, the toilet seat is like scratchy from breakage. im pretty sure theres mold on the air con vents and there is absolutely zero soundproofing. heard the room next door to us doing their couple things at least 3 times. i left with red coloring to my face that i didnt have before and my partner developed acne where he touched the bed covers + we were both itchy on our legs. all issues we never had before our 2 night stay here. they provide water at 6$ a bottle when you can step outside and get the exact same brand for 4$. there is a cabinet space where they took the mini fridge out from so you wont have that either. first morning we got woken up to them knocking on our door at 11am asking about cleaning we responded showing that we were inside multiple times and they walked in anyways. second day (check out day) they rang us on the phone before we needed to leave as an alarm ??. they give 2 small pillows for a double bed room which is pretty useless. if any rooms next to you flicks their light switch laughs whispers etc you can hear all of it. they might as well have put curtains instead of walls or doors. also the door beeps very loud after its been held open for about 10 seconds. service at front desk when checking in was ok tho
SUMMARY i wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone. and would much recommend that you find anywhere else to stay. terrible...
