Finally some comfort after office move frm Central
When my office moved from Central to Kwun Tong (mid June), it was a MASSIVE change for me and I had a tough time dealing with it during the first week there.
During the second week, I was a bit better and thinking of exploring Kwun Tong.
So, there I was smoking a cigar outside the office building when I bumped into a colleague (who was all about exploring the area for some food choices👍🏻👑). I decided to dump that half-smoked cigar and we ended up at ......MG CAFE.
It had a nice vibe.... it was obviously ALMOST full given that it was lunch hour.😊 So, instead of the regular tables, we got the bar-stools and were quite happy with that.
The order:
The Breakfast Fantasy was basically .... a MEAT FEST 😋.... with bacon, ham and sausages. The Grilled pineapple and some sprinkled pomegranate seeds were a nice touch.
The Corned Beef & Guacamole Tortilla Wraps.....well, corned beef is always a safe bet so you can never go wrong with this one.👍🏻It is definitely worth trying. MG Cafe is the first place I ate at, after my office move to Kwun Tong ..... so I consider it my gateway to this...
Read moreWork brought me close and while looking around for something to indulge in, this place looks rather promising. Though food choices are limited, the service here is excellent.
It's also a plus that they have good coffee. As in not only look good, but also tastes none too shabby. Could be improved though. Aroma could be a tad bit stronger but I guess it wants to cater for Hong Kong tastes?
The decor is stylish with cm industrial feel to it. Very suiting given that it's located in an area known for it's factories back in the old days. There may not be many seats, but it just means patrons can sit more comfortably.
The place looks as though it's for dine in only but it does do takeaway. The panini is a rather good choice for takeaway.
The place is on the expensive side but you do pay for the ambience and service. Come in after lunch and you'll feel like you're eating in a cafe overseas because it's just that...

There were a few unusual discrepancies that then led to this review. Heinz beans, served cold. Bacon, replaced with some strange and regrettable ham slice. Mushrooms, not portabello but your classic dried and then soaked Chinese variety. Sausage, exchanged for a frankfurter that oozed some form of yellow liquid, not quite cheese, not quite butter. I've thought about it for a few days now and still couldn't fathom what it was. Eggs, scrambled. At least they got that to a reasonable state. For 140hkd this was far too pricey. Then again I was the only one to care. The rest of the clientele were happy snapping Instagram pics of their breakfast. Most had opted for the slightly more expensive version of the full English breakfast... Served on a bed of...
