Went in just to chill out and eat some decent food with my friends. You know what I get greeted with? Some lady who so clearly has zero to no experience doing F&B. Her name was Aihuan or something, whatever I don't know, all I know for sure is that she was from the mainland just from her Canto accent. But it's not about the fact that she's from mainland, it's about her unprofessionalism.
After telling us we were allowed to come in and be seated, instead of guiding us to our tables like what a normal host would do, she rudely told me and my friends to sit wherever we want. At first, we did not mind that response from her and were understanding because it was relatively busy then. So we obliged and got ourselves seated at a vacant table, which was unfortunately dirty. None of the staff, despite passing through our table several times, even bothered cleaning our table let alone acknowledge it, so instead me and my friends decided to just directly ask one of the staff to clean our table. When a staff finally came to our table for cleaning, we were unfortunately greeted by that same staff who were unprofessional to us at the beginning. While she was cleaning our table, she for some reason was saying to us in a very rude tone, "Why didn't you just over there? It's much better there." In our heads we just thought, "If you want us to sit there, them why didn't you guide us there in the first place instead of telling us to find a seat ourselves in the first place?". Being a patient person that I am (supposedly), I snarkily and sarcastically responded, "Well we like it here." If this conversation was not bad enough, she did not even clean our tables properly. There were still food bits, and we had to clean it ourselves. I can't really say that this particular lady was treating us this way because of our skin colour, because then I could see clearly that she was treating the customers this exact same way. I do not wanna overanalyze as to why she is acting like this, maybe the customers are difficult or whatnot but she is not supposed to be treating customers like this in the service industry. Read moreWhile the food is delicious and generally presentable, the self-serve drink station is disgusting. The reused and dirty watermarks from the dishwasher are all over the cups on racks. You see, commercial restaurant dishwashers reuse the same water for X amount of washes before using fresh water. They might use the same water for what ends up being 30-60 minutes of washes. If the filtering system is good, you won't really notice it. If it is bad or neglected, or perhaps the restaurant is pinching pennies, the water will be disgusting and essentially they will use dirty poorly filtered water to "wash" their cups and dishes over and over again. This is very much the case, with grey water spots on the cups on the cup rack. You must use the 93°C water from the water boiler to rinse the metal cups and silverware, which conduct heat very well, so good luck not burning yourself. The food really is decent however, but make sure you order several dishes at a time due to the tapas-style and quantity portions. Also, being that it is not reputed to be an affluent area, you will absolutely have sometimes crude and impolite customers sitting in the tables adjacent to you. Read moreThis chain is well known for being affordable but still maintaining good taste. Unfortunately with this branch, their staff are extremely poor. I waited a long time for one dish and went up to the staff member to chase it up, continued waiting and it was still nowhere to be seen and the staff member couldn't care less. Ended up canceling it. This is a shame as there are many more good workers currently unemployed who could easily take these jobs and do much better. A let down...
