Xibo — Restaurant in Shanghai

While located in the vicinity of a solid dozen other restaurants, the competition has nothing on Xibo. Contrary to what most ethnic restaurants do here in China, Xibo delivers Xinjiang on the plate, and foregoes decor and traditional garbs for their waiters. The interior is chic, classy and modern, but still warm. The staff was welcoming, and very understanding of our limited chinese abilities. Absolutely loved our experience the two times we ate here. The quality of the food and the service is excellent. The fried rice and the dumplings here are to die for. Given the quality of the food and restaurant the price is a lot less than what you would expect. The front of house recognised us the second time we came in and explained this was because of the experience we had the first time round. Authentic! Spice, methods, the key ingredients, AND the Chefs are from Xinjiang. I've been to Xinjiang and loved the food there. Who knew I could experience the freshness of the Xinxiang's food table so far from there in the middle of Shanghai!

Atmosphere is savvy and casual. For a date,or a gourmet experience, this is the place.

I thank my good friend for bringing me there. I am thinking I will bring my wife and kids here next time we go to Shanghai.
