Star Palace, Star Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Tai Po District

There was a wedding banquet. 90% tables were occupied. Less than 20 tables were opened to non- banquet customers on 3 Dec 2023. The entire environment was super loud 📢 with live band and singing. The worst thing was, they allowed customers to smoke in the restaurants. I could smell myself with cigars after dinner. We complained to the manager there, she knew but did not take action to stop customer smoking in the restaurant. The Manager who served our table was lazy and reluctant to service. We had to wave him a few times and asked him at least twice to place the order. He forgot to serve our beer, coke zero.... Food was ok. Only the roasted goose was not freshly made. The roast goose skin was not crispy at all. I could tell it's roasted early this morning. The hairy crabs were not super fresh. We ordered the combo which included the steamed shrimps and the assorted vegetable clay pot. They only served us the veggie clay pot, but not the steamed shrimps. But they still billed the steamed shrimp...they said they forgot to serve and asked us to takeaway. But we insisted to ask for the cancellation. They refused at the first place, but finally agreed to cancel. This was ridiculous!!! Why they billed us a dish which was not being served? Very tricky!! We wanted to celebrate kids birthday. Unfortunately, we could not stand for such a horrible environment with a lot of cigar smokes.

Mostly easy to access by public transit, and decent location within Tai Po area. Crowded, just like all yumcha places in HK these days. Reasonably large, so get there early enough and you can usually find seating. A decent and dependable selection of dimsum. Takes credit card. The main advantage of this place is that it still actually exists...
