I recently visited Restaurant Mar de Las Antilles in Cartagena in search of an authentic Colombian dining experience, and I was not disappointed. I had the pleasure of trying various lobster dishes, including Langosta al Ajillo, a la Plancha, a la Termidor, and a la Menier, all accompanied by a delicious side of arroz. Each preparation highlighted the freshness and quality of the lobster, with the al Ajillo and a la Plancha being my personal favorites due to their perfectly balanced flavors and expert seasoning.
The Langosta a la Termidor was rich and creamy, while the a la Menier offered a delightful buttery taste that complemented the lobster beautifully. The arroz served alongside was a perfect accompaniment, absorbing the rich sauces and enhancing the overall experience.
To complement my meal, I had the Mar de las Antilles cocktail, which was a delightful blend of tropical flavors, perfectly refreshing and a great match for the seafood dishes.
Adding to the ambiance, the restaurant featured live music entertainment, which created a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere. The combination of excellent food and live music made for a memorable dining experience.
Overall, Restaurant Mar de Las Antilles provided an exceptional dining experience with its focus on authentic Colombian cuisine. The variety of lobster preparations showcased the restaurant's culinary expertise and commitment to quality. If you're in Cartagena and looking for a true taste of Colombia, this restaurant is...
Read moreThe food was very good, however the service is one of the worse I have ever seen in my life!!! We were prepared to wait a little bit more, as we were previously warned about it,and, yes we came at the lunchtime, but waiting 2h for the food is something we for sure didn't expect!!!. After that happened and we complained, they apologized to us and told us they will bring desserts on the house because we waited so long. However when we finished our food, nobody came to take our empty plates, nor to offer any dessert whatsoever. As we didn't want to loose more time, and we were almost late for our city tour because of all the waiting, I stood up to ask for bill. It turned out the bill was quite quickly to come, with nobody mentioning any desserts anymore!!. When we again ask for them, they went and brought us OnE cake to share and asked us do we want to "include the service' in our payment. (It's something they usually do here in Colombia and we have always paid it until now) we said 'no', and they looked even a little bit annoyed by that. All in all this could be a great restaurant if the service was good. But...
Read moreI'm a bit conflicted on how to rate this restaurant. The reviews were most promising. The welcome wasn't too kindly and we almost felt like we were being too much and the hostess was too tired to guide us to our table. It took her visibly a lot of effort to get us to our table. Not a great start. Then our waiter came to our table and he gave just excellent service (he was wearing a lobster hat, amazing, I love how he doesn't take it too seriously). But only the waiter seemed to have fun and was very guest oriented. The food was delicious, and definitely I recommend the restaurants recommendations. Plenty of food for a price that's above average here in Cartagena. We left satisfied. The music was live but just a bit too loud. I couldn't talk to my friend because the singer sang way too loud. She sang great though, but we came for a dinner and not a concert. The staff communicated through walky talkies which were really loud and the walky talky was screaming in my ear when our friendly waiter was serving us. Thanks for having us! Just some feedback to...
