We had such a lovely experience at hazels! We had dinner reservations at 6, but got there a bit early to have a drink at the bar. We were personally greeted by Hazel, and she was warm, kind, and wonderful. She recommended their signature drink- it was tart and fruity and fabulous. My friend had a mojito and it was also delicious. When our table was ready, Saul was our waiter, and he never missed a beat. I ordered the tenderloin, and my friend ordered the chef special- grouper and scallops. Hazel again came by to talk to my friend about her preferences, to ensure she would have a perfect meal. The food hit the table shortly thereafter, and both dishes were fabulous. I want to take a bath in the sauce that came on my steak! The fish was light and flavorful, well prepared and definitely fresh. We also ordered the gran mariner flambe, which was a crowd pleaser, and also delicious. Read moreWe really wanted to like this restaurant. We lived in Flamingo for some years and after time away we came back to find this new restaurant open within the marina complex. Beautiful design, service strives to take good care of guests. Yet... We arrived for drinks before dinner. Those took 30 minutes to arrive. We were busy talking so it didn't really bother us-- but that needs to be addressed. For dinner there were 8 of us so we tried a lot of dishes on the menu. Salmon which was in a rich dill sauce was liked by the person who ordered it. The sea bass I had was good, not that different in flavors from what you can find elsewhere. The mahi with breading was very dry and bland. Rabbit is adventurous on a menu here. However it wasn't a hit. The mixed salad is wonderful. Desserts were ok. Read moreYou know how you go to a restaurant and after a few minutes you can tell that the owner thought carefully about their vision and then executed down to the smallest detail? That’s Hazel’s. We first noticed upon entering when every staff member welcomed us. The service was smart and helpful without being overbearing. The design aesthetic was immaculate top to bottom, literally (ceiling to chairs, even in the restrooms). The menu wasn’t extensive but execution on everything we tried was excellent. From the cocktails, to the entrees, to the desert and Apéritifs. You can find cheaper meals in Playa Flamingo, but you will not find a better one. The value was perfect and the night was better.
