El restaurante Taylor’s Place, es sin duda alguna el restaurante más especial de Tortuguero. Un lugar para cenar sin prisas, disfrutando del ambiente, de la música de fondo y de la buena comida. La zona de las mesas, todas ellas al aire libre, ha sido decorada con muchísimo gusto con raíces y troncos encontrados después de una fuerte tormenta en la playa o en el río. Combinado con flores de colores y con una luz de ambiente para cada uno de los rincones del restaurante. Lo regenta Taylor, un apasionado de la gastronomía y que le encanta salirse de los platos típicos, que se sirven en cualquiera de los restaurantes de Costa Rica. Su filosofía la tiene muy clara, tiene 4 platos principales (camarones, pescado, pollo o res). Él va todos los días a comprar y solo compra aquello que le pueda garantizar un 100% de frescura. De pescado únicamente utiliza uno muy concreto que solo se puede conseguir en la desembocadura del rio, en la zonas donde hay más fuertes corrientes y que no siempre puede conseguirlo. A Taylor le encanta experimentar con los condimentos, las salsas, buscando esas combinaciones que hace que cada uno de sus platos sea único y con una explosión de sabores al comerlos. Para cenar nos pedimos unos camarones con vino blanco y un plato de res a la brasa con salsa de tamarindos. Ambos platos acompañados de verduras salteadas a la plancha, junto con un puré de yuca y papa que estaba delicioso. Yo soy de los que le gusta comerme la carne en un término medio de cocción, para que al morderla puedas sacarle su jugo y he de reconocer de que además de sacarla en su punto exacto, se deshacía en la boca al masticarla. El trato por parte de Taylor exquisito, ya que es quien te recibe al entrar, atiende la mesa y al mismo tiempo es quien prepara todos los platos. El cuanto al precio para la calidad que ofrece en todos sus platos, no es para nada cari. Pagamos alrededor de 45$ para dos personas. Sin duda es para nosotros el mejor restaurante de Tortuguero y os puedo asegurar de que si vais a cenar allí, nadie quedará indiferente. Si eres de los que te gusta disfrutar de una buena cena, ej lugar especial, sin duda The Taylor’s Place es tu restaurante.

We came for a finer dining experience and were not disappointed. Taylor’s place is a bit off the beaten path and hard to find but use your Google maps skills and you’ll arrive. The ambiance is so tropical it’s almost magical. The service was excellent and the staff were very attentive. I had the “grilled chicken” which was a butterflied chicken breast cooked and seasoned to perfection with delicious fresh veggies cooked a little on the crisper side. The Garlic mash was also great. My wife had the “Shrimp pasta” that had at least 8 large pieces of fresh shrimp and the pasta was cooked perfectly. We both came away very full, satisfied, and impressed with this hidden Gem.

Magnificent place, magical ambience and delicious food! The chef and owner prepared a vegetarian plate uniquely for me, my fiancé had the fish which was tender and tasty. The brownie was out of this world. Present and Attentive service. Add to that good downbeat music with amazing decor and candle light.

Deceiving. Dirty. Unmade beds. Admittedly I have never stayed in such a cheap hotel room, but coming to Tortuguera with its hot and humid atmosphere, I had 2 priorities A) A/c B) pet friendly. As I was coming with my little pug a/c was totally necessary, and pet friendly.....this was THE CHOICE. The room was tiny and clear that cleaning is not one of their prerogatives.(far from it). Wifi was supposed to be available throughout the establishment - untrue. Bathroom accessories were supposed to be present, there was nothing and when we asked for toiletries, a soap was brought - still waiting for the shampoo... The restaurant has a good reputation so after a short work through the village, we went back for dinner as we'd previously asked what time is dinner served and was told by the same brother that's supposed to bring back the shampoo, between 19h-19h30. Arrived back to be greeted by Ray, warm and beguiling personality who said he doesn't cook when the weather is bad as there are no clients!! Had previously read that restaurant was closed due to refurbishment but I now realise it's an untruth. If you're looking for cheap and uncheerful but with A/C, you'll it....if those aren't your criteria of research.....go elsewhere. I just hope tomorrow's private guided tour comes Upto notch as I really will wonder why I drove...

Taylor's Place is a hidden gem in Tortuguero! The ambiance and the decoration of the place are exceptional, sweet,cozy and with attention to detail (lots of candlelight so very romantic!), and the service we received from Taylor and his team was excellent! They were very kind and attentive. The menu is simple, not many options (which is a huge plus for us since we find it guarantees good quality! Better few and great than many and mediocre), and every choice we made was excellent ! Great blend of flavors and delicious result ! The cocktails were a wonderful refreshing addition to our experience. Indeed it is quite expensive , but with great value for money, so if your budget allows it then make sure to visit Taylor's Place!

Especially recommended for couples looking for a romantic special...

Taylor´s Place is managed by Rey, a friendly Local. ||On arrival i didnt know which direction to go and asked for Taylor´s Place, whereas the locals tried to explain me where to find Rey... Took me a while to figure out his name is Rey Taylor...||Rey speaks very good english and showed me around his place. He told me his Mom lives next door in case i need help and cannot find him. ||There are several Bungalows in a nice garden with many flowers. My Room was very clean with tile floor and a comfortable bed. Private bathroom was ok, good towels. ||The location is pretty good, at the quiet end of the village, only few minutes walk to the Beach, very close to Restaurants and bars. ||As a female solo traveler i felt safe at this...
