The service was wonderful, and the location was super convenient. From our room we could see the volcano which was beautiful to wake up to. However our main complaint was how thin the walls were. We had a few nights where luckily no one was next to us, but the nights that there were, we could not sleep at all. They either were talking loud outside until 4 am, or coming back at 5 am and playing music and speaking loud again. This completely ruined our night and next day as we were low on sleep. The first night we first asked them to be quiet, and then we had to complain to the staff via message after they continued and he kindly responded promptly and let them know to keep it down. However that same morning we could hear their alarm clock at 6 am going off non stop. The fact that we can hear every conversation and even an alarm clock was not ideal. It almost felt like only a curtain was in between the rooms with how much we could hear from both sides. To the staff- I would suggest that if the rooms are not all occupied, please do not put people right next to each other. When we book our hotels we expect at the least to be able to have a peaceful sleep, which we could not do here. It may be worthwhile to also let every person staying to honor a quote time from 10 pm or 11 pm etc. For the thin walls and loud neighbors in the other rooms, I would not stay here again. Besides that, I agree with the other comments that the rooms were basic but that was all we needed. And the shower had great pressure and got as hot as we needed after a...
Read moreEven after making a very last minute booking, Errol (the head of the property) did everything he could to make sure I felt completely taken care of. Not only is he super friendly and absolutely focused on making sure every part of your stay is exactly what you need, he is also incredibly responsive to questions on WhatsApp whenever you might have them. ||||The rooms are very simple (a couple of beds, some storage, a fridge, etc.), but they're all very well taken care of, and very "Fortuna". This is not "just another hotel" with the same furnishings and soulless decorations, this is the quintessential space to relax and feel like you're IN Costa Rica. And being less than a 10 minute walk from downtown Fortuna is...
Read moreYou definitely get what you pay for at the hotel. It is a quaint nice hotel away from the busy city but not too far. I bought a breakfast included option and every morning was greeted with a set table outside my room with hot coffee and orange juice. You can choose from an omelet or a standard Costa Rican breakfast of rice and beans. The hotel also has a free kitchen everyone can use and families were cooking their meals there, which is also perfect because there is a supermarket about twenty feet away. A/C works great, I was definitely happy with the price...
