Bar El Ancla — Restaurant in Sardinal

We are there twice. The first time at lunch was just sangria and patacones with bean dip. They were delicious. We returned for dinner. Sangria and Brazilian drink, again delicious. My wife's Mahi in mango sauce was good. My Churrasco was touch and chewy with an ok flavor. We both received cold mashed potatoes. Veggies were ok. Our first server was good but our server for dinner was preoccupied and looking at the beach as he took our order. We weren't sure if he would get the order right. He excused himself and returned, and we needed to repeat our order. We didn't see him much after that. Another server brought our food and then we were ignored. We were finished with our meal before I could get a water refilled by the second server. He finally came back and we asked for the bill. Waited. Waited. Waited. Finally went to him to pay. “Local Flavour, No Frills, and a Story to Tell” Bar El Ancla is the kind of seaside dive where pelicans literally circle overhead while you eat ,which feels oddly appropriate, given how authentically coastal the whole experience is. The food? Honest, local, and priced right. It won’t blow your mind, but it also won’t upset your stomach, a balance many seaside joints only dream of.

Service had a casual, “we’ll get there when we get there” charm, and the atmosphere was delightfully unpretentious, like your uncle’s fishing shack if your uncle also served cold beer and good company.

We recently visited this place and had a very frustrating experience. We ordered shrimp and chicken tacos, but the waitstaff needed to ask us three times for our order, which already felt off. After over an hour of waiting, the food finally arrived—and the order was wrong. The shrimp tacos were soggy, and the fries were unappetizing.

There are plenty of other places with much better food and service. When we went to pay, we made sure to have them remove the incorrect items from our bill, but we were still shocked to see we were charged $24,700 for two daiquiris and a plate of shrimp tacos.
