Café Corazón — Restaurant in Sardinal

Nice cafe off the beach. Prices are very high, considering breakfast here is as much as a seafood dinner down the beach.

Service was very friendly. After paying 8USD for an iced coffee I asked for my change to be in USD since I am going to airport. The lady said she didn’t have any, which I felt hard was to believe and also she didn’t check. She gave me colones which was fine… until I arrived at the airport and found out the 5,000 paper bill she gave me is worthless due to this changing to plastic 2 years ago! The currency exchange wouldn’t accept it, and I couldn’t pay for anything in the airport with it. Staff were surprised I even received this in Costa Rica still since it’s changed to plastic years ago.

So after paying for an expensive coffee, I also lost 10USD… disappointing to...

We visited for breakfast. Good shopfront and visuals, but you can't tell a book by its cover, as the saying goes. Busy but relaxing vibe and the wall art and heart theme is good. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks another 10 minutes to get cake to keep the infants happy and ANOTHER hour and 10 minutes to get our food. It's such a shame. The drinks were good but took so long, we didn't dare ask for more in case they arrived after our food orders. There was a general frustration with a number of customers, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable, especially when the wrong food orders were delivered to the wrong tables. I think they were a waiter short and seemed to have only one person in the kitchen. We left after nearly 2 hours. I hope they learn - they apologised, but it's not...

Wandered across this little gem towards the end of our trip and so glad we did .

Grabbed a couple smoothies that went down way too easy because they were that good and fresh.

Had a Waffle Egg sandwich which was delicious and really hit the spot with some freshness in the tomato and lettuce, which I don’t normally like but this just worked.

The star was the gigantic breakfast burrito that puts all the elements of a classic Costa Rican breakfast in a burrito that is pressed for a good texture. We added bacon and avocado, because you always should. All the elements just hit right even the sweetness of the plantains came thru perfectly.
