If I could give 1/2 star I would. What a disappointing and outrageous tourist trap! The service was possibly the worst we have ever experienced, the cocktails just ok, the happy hour non existent. We went there for Happy Hour, since the (I now believe fake) reviews were so positive. The server was prompt to get to our table asking if we were there for dinner and when we said we would like to see the happy hour menu as we already had dinner plans, she brusquely told us there was just one drink to choose from for that, the Canadian Caesar, and no food/nibbles. She insisted to read the dinner specials, which we listened to, thanked her but confirmed we were meeting friends elsewhere for dinner. After that hard sale, we ordered 2 cocktails (the Caesar for “happy hour” and a chili coconut Margarita) and when offered water, we said flat water was fine. She brought a 1 1/2 liter bottle, instead of the expected iced tap water. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the sunset and our cocktails and around 7 asked for the bill. After more than 15 minutes, she was nowhere to be seen and no cheque yet, so we walked up to the bar to pay. She started writing the bill just then, and my husband didn’t closely review it (we were late at that point) and just noticed a 10% “service charge”. Paid the bill in full, was told the additional tip should be in cash to her (yeah, sure, you really earned a tip....) and when I reviewed the bill I saw she charged $11 for the Coconut Margarita (listed on the menu at $7.50), plus $5 for the bottle of water, supposed to be just a glass of plain water. We walked out $28 lighter, but I want to make sure nobody else makes the same mistake we did. PLENTY of other options for good cocktails and real Happy Hours in Tamarindo. Just stay away from the...
Read moreRecommended for dinner, food was great, but the service was horrible. The waitress acted as though we were bothering her when we asked where she would like us to sit. She never offered water to us and my beer arrived with a very dirty glass. Asking for a clean glass, the waitress acted as though the glass was fine....with a clump of dirt, yes dirt, and it fell out of the glass in front of her when I tipped it over. The food was fantastic, although they brought us the wrong salad, which also cost more. In the end, the bill came, they charged us a higher rate due to dinner - fine, but when I paid with colons, the waitress stared at it for a few seconds, then says, “I’ll bring you back your change”, and leaves. Multiple times she tells me that someone will bring me my change, even though she originally said that she would, and after the manager finally walks over and asks me if I need something, I explain that I’m still waiting on my change and that the waitress has refused to bring it to us. The manager went to talk to her, points out that the change was sitting right there in front of her, and told her to deliver it to me. When she finally drops it off at the table, they didn’t give me all of my change. It wasn’t much, just a couple coins, but it’s the principle of it. I’m giving three stars instead of more due to the service and lack of providing proper change. Again, the food was fantastic! Delicious and full of flavor. But just know that you if you eat dinner her, you run the risk of being treated with a lack of appropriate...
Read moreWe’ve been to Langosta Beach Club many times over the years and usually spend generously on dinner and drinks (our last tab was around $450). In the past, staff were flexible and allowed us to purchase a half-day pass when we came later in the day.
This time was completely different. The front desk attendant was unnecessarily rude and condescending when I asked to park my e-bike inside the gate — something most other places in Tamarindo allow, especially considering the theft risk if you leave it on the street. He flatly refused and seemed more interested in being difficult than accommodating paying guests.
When we arrived at 5pm, I asked again about a half-day pass since we only planned to eat and have drinks, and was told they “don’t exist” and we’d have to pay the full $125 fee. It felt inconsistent and unfair compared to our past visits.
The final straw was when we decided to leave rather than argue — he actually came outside as my kids were upset and waved at us with a smug smile. It was insulting and unprofessional.
For an establishment that markets itself as upscale, the service felt pretentious, overpriced, and completely out of touch. The place was practically empty, which may explain why. I honestly can’t wait until new beach clubs open in Tamarindo that treat customers with...
