General review: It's located in the heart of Tamarindo and is at the end of a public beach so it never gets to crowded. It's an easy walk away from town where many restaurants and shops are located. It has a beautiful beachfront view and a private pool. The restaurant onsite is wonderful and offers many delicious and local options. We ate the complimentary breakfast every day for the five days we were there and never got tired of it. You never have to leave the hotel if you don't want to as everything you need is onsite including a spa and gift shop. The couples massage my husband and I received is bar far the BEST massage we have ever gotten. The staff here are so friendly and each and every one of them go above and beyond to accommodate you. The hotel will help you with anything from booking transportation and local activities to providing local restaurant recommendations. I highly recommend Capitán Suizo!

Wedding venue review: After visiting Capitán Suizo for the first time in 2019 and meeting with the manager, Diego, my husband and I chose to have our wedding here and we're so glad that we did! Our dream destination wedding was supposed to be in May 2020, but we had to delay it by one year due to COVID-19. While this experience could have been a huge headache for us and our guests, Diego and his team were more than accommodating with our postponement and rebooking when the time came to begin planning again and taking guest reservations. Capitán Suizo has the perfect area to host a wedding that is secluded from the rest of the hotel so you don't have anyone crashing your big day! Diego and Raul were very communicative throughout the whole wedding planning process with both my husband and me and our wedding guests staying at the hotel. They provided a discounted room block for all guests. The team worked with our wedding coordinator to pull off the perfect day for us. Capitán Suizo provided some different menu options for our wedding, which we chose one and requested some customizations and the hotel accommodated all of them with ease! The food served during the wedding - both during the cocktail hour and reception - was AMAZING. All of our guests were raving about how good the food was at the wedding and the open bar was by far the best. The only thing we would have done differently was keep the leftovers! -Capitan Suizo Beachfront Boutique Hotel is a gem! -It's located on a street that is a 10 min walk to downtown Tamarindo, far enough away from the noise, but close enough to walk. -It's perfectly designed that it's nestled inside a jungle atmosphere, but at the same time right on the beach. -It's also located on the far end of Tamarindo Beach, which makes it a good location to start your day w/ a morning walk along the beach towards downtown. -The staff are all courteous, 100% pura vida vibes! -You can opt for daily housekeeping if you want, which we did. -Laundry is on-site & very affordable, it's definitely a good option since there aren't any self-serve laundrymats in town, this saved us time & hassle, plus not having to pack too much on the trip. -The free, daily buffet breakfast is a great deal too (they serve: scrambled eggs, hot dogs cut into small pieces like sausages, fresh fruits (pineapple, mango, papaya, passion fruit), Costa Rican coffee, fresh OJ, some Costa Rican baked goods & you can also order an omelet and bacon (free of charge). -Beware of all the wild birds while dining b/c they are very smart & will fly down to pick food right off your plate even if you are sitting there! -A family of Mantled Howler Monkey lives on the property & you get to see/hear them almost daily...very very cool to experience. -There is a swimming pool & also a concierge to help you book your adventures (ATV, horseback riding, day trips, etc...) if you need. -The concierge also provides some free rentals like boogey boards, etc..and you can rent things like paddle boards ($17 per hour). -The room was very large w/ a nice outdoor balcony. -I highly recommend renting the upstairs balcony, you have the most privacy. -The mosquito net helped us sleep at night, make sure you ask housekeeping to put it on your bed. -There's also nice secure parking lot, which is free if you have a rental car. -If you need COVID-19 rapid PCR or Antigen tests, this is possible to schedule on-site, in a private room.

Overall, this is such a great hotel w/ awesome natural design, you feel like your are part of the Swiss Family Robinson while staying here...this is definitely a place to keep coming back to while...
