This quiet gem is across from the surf camp/resort we were staying 😎 so when we were looking for a nice dinner away from the bustle, this is what we saw first. Our lucky day that it’s location put Milongo in front! So good! It’s a little bit elegant but still casual and beachy, and has authentic Argentine cuisine from pastas to steaks and seafood. We had a vegetable platter to share with cream sauce (my girlfriend tells me it’s béchamel), and I also had a small, tender New York Strip which was seasoned to perfection… it was appropriately marbled and juicy, served on a sizzling hot plate. The meats are imported from Argentina and are sublime. (Costa Rican steaks can be lean and gamey but this imported steak was exceptional). It was grilled with some flavor I can’t describe maybe from chili and sausage (the bill mentioned bife de chorizo so that’s probably it. Martha had the ravioli with ricotta and pomodoro sauce, which was fresh and homemade with a touch of garlic and the perfect amount of salt… Worth the price every bite was adventure in Argentina right in Tamarindo. Perfect fuel...
Read morePleasant dinner, we arrived shortly after six and the restaurant was quiet. The outside area is a mess with broken glass and grime. Keep going, once you cross the small bridge the inside is quite nice and recently done. The service was good. We felt welcome. The food was hit or miss. An Argentinian restaurant should do steak and chimichurri really well. Two of us ordered flank steak. Mine, the full size, was cooked a proper medium, with just a hint of char but plenty of pink meat for flavor. The smaller order was not cooked properly. Ordered medium-rare, one side was close to that, but the other so rare as to be uncooked and inedible. It was obvious from the lack of outside color, grill marks, or char. The cook didn't pay attention and neither did anyone else. The chimichurri was bland as if a small amount of herbs and spice were dropped into oil moments before serving, no hint of garlic or vinegar was noticed. The use of "Fusion" on a menu hides a lot, but these misses go too far. The...
