Our vacation to Costa Rica became a dream come true because of where we stayed. Bahia Del Sol is so well designed. The resort is not a highrise of people...it is a peaceful single level, and in parts, double level accommodation, that is a waterfront property on the beach. Portrero Bay is the bay in front of the resort, and it is picturesque, and safe, and perfect to swim, and my girlfriend and I would go for a walk almost every night before going to bed. The ocean water from the bay is so so very warm, I was amazed. It was an absolute dream to be able to go for a swim before bedtime too, when we chose. I'm 41 and my girlfriend is 52 years old, and we did many things while there. We went walking in the trails of the nearby hills, we went for a massage on the beach, underneath a large tree, we went swimming in the resort's pool, we drove to a very interesting town called Tamarindo, and spent the day there shopping, and eating, and sightseeing. Anyways, one of the best things of Bahia Del Sol is the staff that work there. They are very authentic people, so happy, and so helpful, and we never ever waited for service of any kind. If you are a traveller who is looking for partying and constant socializing, this is not a place for that. One other good thing about the accommodation, is that it is surrounded by various trees and plants and there are even Monkeys in the trees. We walked over to the start of the resort, and watched the Howler Monkeys swinging in the trees. After this, we went to the hotel's pool to cool down, and we put the swim-up bar to use. The other thing we did, was go out on a boat tour. We rode the boat to a deserted beach, and went snorkeling. On the way to the beach, we were allowed to use the fishing rod, and we eventually caught a Tuna! The story gets even better...on the way back home, all of us tourists were sitting on the deck of the large boat, watching the sunset, when someone spotted a dolphin. She screamed with excitement, but no one saw the dolphin because it went back under the water...as we all waited to try and see if it would come back to the surface, everyone was amazed when 20 or more dolphins began to rise to the surface, and race alongside the boat! They put on a show for us...they swam in front of the boat and jumped sky high out of the water. It made everyone scream in delight, even all the men...LOL :) Anyways, this Bahia Del Sol resort was what made our trip to Costa Rica a success! Oh, the restaurant, right next to this property, is a great option for lunch or dinner. We ate there for dinner 3 times, and the ambiance is great. It's right next door, and you can access it right from the beach. Oh, by the Way, the Airport you want to land at is the main airport at Liberia. I think a shuttle or a taxi takes about 1 hours drive or so, and it is a good way to see the landscape and the towns. Oh 1 more thing, we also went on a tour one day, that was arranged by the staff at the front desk of Bahia Del Sol. We visited a river, for a boat ride, and saw crocodilles and monkees! They came right up to the boat, and they were very large... we got some great photos because my girlfriend and I are photographers. I hope this information helps, you could always search for the telephone number for this resort and call them, if you want to ask any questions...they all are able to speak English there, and are very happy to help. Our room was great, and we loved how authentically Costa...
Read moreArrived with the online menu in mind. Pizza, etc. We scanned the QR code and were told it was drinks only. We were handed a menu with 4 dinner items.....a far cry from pizza, poke, etc. I wouldn't mind their menu had we known beforehand. We ordered beers and then were handed the menu. The breakfast menu has 9 or 10 items that you can order for dinner. I had my heart set on pizza but construction at their Bistro prohibits that, so we were told. The servers were good and deserving of their tip. The establishment needs to update their information to reflect menu restrictions so no one else is disappointed. Our burgers were ok, my friend's pancakes could have been breakfast size for the price. 3 small cakes with a tablespoon of syrup and another of nutella. This is in no way reflected on the servers but is on their shoulders to bear the explanation to diners. The establishment needs to remove the menus from website and QR until construction...
Read moreWonderful ambiance and great staff, however the kitchen is a little hit-or-miss. We stayed at this hotel and can't say enough great things about our stay, but the restaurant food should be improved. Wins: spinach salad with passion fruit dressing, spring rolls and the Cobb salad. The fresh fruit with breakfast is great. Happy hour cocktails are delish and a great deal, with a wonderful sunset view. Losses: 'museli' with breakfast was just uncooked oats, the fried shrimp tacos were overdone and cold, I'd swear the fresh juice our last day was tang. I also didn't care for the black tea with breakfast. Overall the menu is fairly standard,...
