I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant based on the recommendations of other fellow vacationers. I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed, however . When we arrived, we were seated quickly which was nice given how busy the restaurant was. Service after that was terrible. Our server was short tempered and snapped and my partner and I when we inquired about our meal- this after watching several tables who arrived after us receive their meals. We acknowledged how hard she was working saying that we weren’t upset by the wait for our meal but rather wanting to ensure it hadn’t been missed. She then proceeded to scold us and lecture us on the time it takes to cook various pasta sauces, quite unnecessary and condescending in my opinion. After our meals arrived she flew by the table, not even asking us how it was but only to toss a basket of bread down to accompany the pasta. The food was alright- the bruschetta and mixed green salad were great. The pasta was VERY al dente, border line crunchy which was disappointing. And given the fact that our server never checked in on us there was nothing to be done to remedy that situation. It took repeated requests for us to get our bill. When I went to pay the bill, the gentleman, who I presume was a manager or owner was also less than friendly. He asked if I wanted my total in colones or dollars, took my card and that was it. He definitely did not make an effort to make me feel like a valued guest and certainly didn’t take the time to ask how my experience was. I will make a point of telling anyone looking for restaurant recommendations in the area not...
Read moreGreat location and environment. We had no reservation but were quickly seated — we were grateful for that. However, the waitress had a weird vibe, like she wasn’t pleased that we arrived. Food was served quickly, too, and we loved that. The tuna tartare was great, but the pizza and the milanesa were just OK. We had 4 beers, too. When we looked at the menu, prices were high but we really wanted to try the place. The surprise came with the check: they add 23% to the menu prices, which is forbidden by Costa Rican laws and regulations on costumer service in restaurants. The law clearly says that prices in menus should be the final prices with no hidden or extra fees. (See note in Spanish below). The menu should include the final price, even if higher. In 30 minutes we paid USD 85 for a regular meal with bad attitude and unlawful menu prices. My recommendation: go and try the place, but let the waitress and manager know that you are aware they are unlawfully charging the clients. Extremely overpriced for the quality of service and food, in our opinion. Read moreThe food at this restaurant was delicious! We had focaccia bread for appetizer, and 4 pasta dishes. If your a male or expecting large serving avoid the Bolognese. It was smaller serving size comparatively and not as flavorful. They were also offer a free lemoncello shot at the end that was great. We were asked it we had reservations on this Thursday rainy evening but they got us in without one. One main lady seemed to be running the place with younger servers to help. She seemed distracted often and we felt forgotten at times as she didn’t come around often leaving 2 items excluded from our requests. We noticed she took awhile to get to other tables too so it may be best to give plenty of time for service at this restaurant. They were all very nice servers and food was delicious so we would definitely return if we had a couple...
