Avoid at any cost! Really slow service, the food isn't that good, small portions, starters really overpriced and flavourless. I honestly don't understand where they get the good reviews from. We felt it was a "touristy trap" place.
I came here with my fiancé and my little one a few nights ago as we heard from people in our hotel that the place was good.
We ordered mussels saganaki, prawns with mint as starters and grilled sea bass fish to share.
Mussels did not come with any cheese and not that much of flavour, nothing comparing with some other restaurants where we had ordered them and they were delicious. They were mussels with just onions, that was all (see pic).
Prawns were literally just 4 prawns! And also flavourless, the mint that they come with was not even fresh! (See pic), and they charge 9€ for this!
The worst thing was that we had to wait over 45 min since we finished our starters till our grilled fish arrived at the table! We waited for so long that after 30 min I asked one of the staff if the fish was on the grill or not because we wanted to cancel it it wasn't on the grill and leave the place. His answer was: "Of course, fish has been on the grill since we brought you your starters", Well... I'm not a chef but 30 min to grill a fish?? Anyway, we kept waiting and the fish wouldn't come yet...so we asked a second waitress and she told us that the fish was just placed on the grill! So basically the first waiter lied to us!! I wish he would have been honest specially seeing that we had a little boy and he was hungry and extremely tired!!
After 45 min the fish arrived and it was good, but then I realized we were missing the chips! So once again we had to wait for the chips to arrive...
I noticed that there were not enough waiters for the restaurant, so I wouldn't be surprised if in the kitchen was the same and that's why the service was that bad and we had to wait ages!
It's a real shame because the place looks nice but the owner needs to hire more staff members and turn this place over!
We will definitely not come back here again and I will never...
Read moreThis restaurant was absolutely amazing. We were recommended by our hotel and we were so lucky to get the last table available on the same night. We were greeted with great hospitality, the owner introduced himself and shook our hands and spoke with kids. The decor was beautiful like a traditional Cypriot house and garden and the ambience was perfect, traditional village music played at the right volume. The kids menu was perfect, not too many options but enough variation for them not to complain, they picked a spaghetti Bolegnese and both demolished the plate clean and as promised by the waiters received a gift once they were finished, they were so happy. My husband ordered chicken souvlaki which he thoroughly enjoyed and I ordered the lamb tava which arrived in a vase like claypot.. Oh my gosh, it was so amazing... It was so tasty, herby and tender the meat was falling off the bone. Portions were very generous, taste was 10 out of 10 and service and atmosphere was effortless. I regret not finding this place years ago. Some of the kids dropped a glass which smashed and nothing was too much for the staff, they got it cleaned up in a couple of minutes and it was not uncomfortable. We walked down to the strip after and when we walked back to the car after an hour the restaurant was absolutely full and buzzing, what a great vibe! When I walked past another tavern nearby the staff looked sluggish and bored but here you see a big difference... they are all so willing to help and energetic. I have already recommended this to family and friends who are in the country at the moment. I'm Greek Cypriot myself and have been coming to Cyprus every summer since I was born and have never visited this restaurant, I can give my seal of approval and wished I was able to take my grandfather before he passed. It felt like a smooth, easy experience and I will be back very...
Read moreWe found this taverna thanks to ChatGPT, which showed me one of the most visited establishments by locals with typical Cypriot cuisine. The first evening we didn’t have a reservation, we were offered to wait or make one for the next evening. We did so - for the following day. When we returned we were impressed by the incredible authentic atmosphere, great hospitality and warmth from the staff. We also saw that quite a few football stars had eaten there - Gattuso, Francesco Totti, Michel Platini and several others. The service was efficient, but without being pushy. We enjoyed first-class dishes, typical for the region - I had octopus with sautéed spinach and fava, and my husband had kleftiko. Everything was more than deliciously prepared, you could tell they care about the food they cook. But we needed more time at this taverna, so we made another reservation. It turned out, however, that my husband hadn’t seen the day for it and it was for Friday evening, instead of Thursday. The host, however, patiently listened to us and very quickly seated us in the main hall, at a larger table no less. This time we got meze. Since we had tried meze at another taverna, we can say with our hand on our heart that here it was many times more delicious, and more abundant too. I recommend it to anyone who finds themselves...
