Food taste and quality? Absolutely 5/5.

I went there with my wife 2 years ago and loved the food and service, specially from a very kind man that was either the owner or one of the oldest employees, and left us with good memories from the place. I returned this year with 2 more people. Food quality and taste is still there.

However, the meze (even though it was delicious), was about a lot of bread and dips and very tiny portions of meat, which was disappointing, but I believe this is the same in most tavernas, so probably just my bad and should have gone for a single meal.

On a more negative side, one of the waiters needs urgent customer service training. Having worked many years in customer service there are things that can't be done or said when dealing with public even if we are having a bad day. When I arrived I said I had made a booking under the name Phillip. In a way it sounded likeI was wrong he said (Philip?? We have a booking for Silip) Apparently repeating my name slowly on the phone was not enough. Then, he wasn't rude to our group and was actually fun to us, but we were seating at the table next to the entrance outside and saw him being quite rude to people at the door without bookings and one guy that had a booking ( repeated his name patiently several times) and with the rudeness he received because he seemed not to be understanding his name (Steve!) he said ''Ok nevermind'', and left the place. If it happened to me I would have not liked it for sure.

Then, with another employee, when saying thank you and goodbye in the most nicest and friendly way, after processing the payment, he just ignored us and left the table without a single word.

3 stars because we pay not only for the food but for...

I’d been recommending Stamna Tavern in Ayia Napa to guests staying at my apartment, even though I hadn’t actually eaten there myself until last night, when some lovely guests took me along for dinner.

If you appreciate tradition, culture, and genuine Cypriot hospitality, this is the place to go. It is run by Andreas and his family with real passion, which you feel the moment you arrive. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the food is full of flavour and it truly feels like you’re eating in someone’s home.

The beef stifado especially is delicious - rich and full of flavour and went well with the house red wine which is also excellent. I also had a bite of the lamb kleftiko which also tasted wonderful. I guess I'll have to order that next time!! Everything is fresh, authentic, and cooked with care.

They say it’s the oldest house in Ayia Napa, and it feels every bit as authentic as that sounds. You’re not just having dinner, you feel like you’re experiencing a piece of local history.

It really is a lovely, family-run tavern where you’ll always feel welcome but make sure you book and it is so popular. But if you haven't booked and have to wait for a little while, be patient - it's worth the wait. I absolutely loved it and will definitely be...

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant, where the focus is on serving good, honest, traditional food. Each dish felt like it was made with care, using fresh ingredients and staying true to classic recipes. It’s the kind of comfort food that leaves you satisfied and feeling like you’ve just enjoyed a home-cooked meal.

What makes this place even more special is the rich history behind its doors. You can feel the legacy and stories that have shaped the restaurant over the years, adding a unique charm to the dining experience. The decor and ambiance reflect its past, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease.

The service was also excellent—attentive, friendly, and never rushed. The staff and Andreas made us feel right at home, adding to the overall inviting vibe of the place. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this restaurant is a great spot to enjoy authentic food in a setting that celebrates both tradition and hospitality. Highly...

I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a quite family Greek restaurant in the city upper side. It is a traditional tavern in a crowded party city set-up as a spring-break paradise. 30 years in the making, the owner still runs the show in the kitchen, Grandma is still sitting on the chair inside the restaurant and the 2 daughters' owner are strolling around the tables to make it all work on time (Zoe, you're the Master!). We did not ordered meze, we preferred to swing throughout traditional beef meat balls, chicken gyros, dolmades (grape leaves stuffed with rice and beef minced meat...simply delicious) all sprinkled by local white souvignon wine (crispy at first, smoother after the second glass, but do not try to imagine the french or Italian zest...). To sum it up, a great local taste of what Cyprus traditional cusine is. Do try to chat with the Owner if you can and definitely finish the meal with couple of shots of local zivania. It is the icing on the cake!

We chose the place according the mark. It is located a little bit outside of the city center, what gives it quite calmer atmosphere (at quite longer time we were the only ones customers). The interior is being made as a real tavern and waiting on your starter/dish, you may read the family history of the place. We ordered house wine (you may choose between 0,5 or 1l), tzatziki & dolmades. They were served in tomato sauce - quite tasty! We received some extras on house! Later on, Kleftiko appeared (very smooth and delicious) and musaka - delicate aubergine with minced meat. The dessert were local baklavas - very sweet honey/hazelnuts. Our goodbye was shot of local alcohol on house! The service was very serving and recommending, giving this family atmosphere. The only little minus of the location is being near to very busy and loud street. The food is homemade tasty and the atmosphere is unique. Definitely recommend this place!
