Kira Giorgena Tavern — Restaurant in Larnaca

Hidden in a back street of larnaka on a residential road, kira Giorgena is an absolute gem. We opted for meze, wasn't even given a menu, this is what we wanted anyway and I gather what everyone goes for. Home made dips were lovely, especially tzanziki and the feta dip. A toasted flat bread cut into 4 with olive oil was a also great.

Mains were of a good size and kept coming, roasted pork, lambs liver with onions, rocket and feta, sauteeed mushroom with garlic, village salad, Cyprus sausages, fried courgette slices, snails were really tasty too. Finally the chacoal, chicken (still on the bone) pork and sheftalies hot and fresh.

To end Cyprus sweets and hot loukoumades fresh out the fryer. Amazing food. Just go there.

Beer service in a glass from the freezer was also nice touch

Authentic Cyprus meze was had for two, and it was a great experience. Our server warned us there would be a lot of plates. Not all of the plates were to our liking, but there are so many options that it's still a great course. A note: this is very different than Greek meze, which we've found varies largely and isn't really that worth it: and is often just a single small plate, like tapas. This meze was a course of small plates; it was fun.

Our entire dinner was about 60 euro for two, with the best ouzo I've had (not the anise one, from grape maybe -- far better than the fennel syrup everyone pretends is good). The place offers a wide variety of mezze plates. On the evening we visited, there was no à la carte option, as it was Mezze Night — €23 per person for a set menu. I must say, the quantity of food was enough to feed an army. Our two sets easily fed the three of us (two adults and a child), and we still had plenty left over.

The set menu is a great way to sample various local dishes. However, I found that many of the items were deep-fried, which isn't usually my preference.
