This was my second visit over the years that I have been visiting Cyprus and for a return visitor you can see clearly the transformation that it was done to it. The place it flows with all the afterfacts and is a very good description what they are, used for or where they have been found. Is even a section of antiques from renewing the sewage system in Larnaca with all their findings. On the lower floor there are tombs and a small burial site showing how they were buried all those years. There are a lot of unusual exhibits to see from Neolithic period to Bronze Age. Roman period and a lot of ceramics from Hellenistic period. When you do pay a visit also visit the court yard to see one of the oldest olive press that it was found when they have been in constructed the new motorways. I have spent just over 2 hours in there and I combined my trip with Ancient Kition and Choirokitia Neothelic Settlement. The entrance to the museum is free and they have toilets inside. Also there is a ramp and a lift which makes it accessible for wheelchair users and families with pushchairs. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00am to 16.30. over Easter holidays and national days the museum is closed. Also the Department of Antiquities can issue special entry cards for 1, 3 or 7 days at a reduced price and also a pensioners special entry card. For more information you can visit...

Impressive sample of Cypriot history, with very accurate information and well explained so you can graso the time scale and the cultur influences of the Minoans, Mycenaeans, Assyrians, Phoenicians, Egyptians and hellenic peoples.

It deserves a whole morning or afternoon to fully appreciate it and it is worth every minute. I would recommend a brief reading before the museum so you know what you are going to find, it helps. A pity that the British Museum didn't give back all they took from the Cyprus excavations, which leaves the archaeological records incomplete. Greetings...
