Last week, I visited Πολύ restaurant in Limassol with a friend. I ordered the lamb keftedes plate with baked veggies, and my friend had the sea bass. The food was truly delicious – my plate was beautifully presented, with vibrant colors from the vegetables that made it visually stunning. The decor was very elegant, as were the tables and overall setting. However, despite the name and location, there was nothing Greek about the atmosphere. No Greek colors, no Greek music (only international songs), and not even a menu in Greek – everything was exclusively in English. It felt more like an international restaurant than a place celebrating Greek hospitality. The hostess at the entrance welcomed us kindly, and we were offered a complimentary cocktail, though a glass of Greek wine might have felt more fitting. Our waiter was polite and professional but lacked the warmth and friendliness one might expect from a restaurant claiming Greek heritage – it was more of a distant politeness rather than heartfelt hospitality. The prices were around €50 per person, and we only had water, no alcoholic drinks. Overall, while the food was delicious and the presentation and decor were impressive, the lack of authentic Greek elements in the atmosphere and service left me somewhat...
Read moreWell…at a first sight everything looked nice. But when a waitress declared the concept of the restaurant - “Greek style seafood restaurant”, it straight away ring an alarm bell. So in Cyprus, restaurant with Russian roots is trying to sell what is in every fish taverna but expensive I would assume. It’s like if you would got to a Russian restaurant serving Thai food in Thailand…smells like a bad irony to me.
Ok what about the price?….oh well - 170 € for a seafood platter which waitress called meze. No idea how big it would be, but if to judge by the food we ordered should be very small. Overall taste was not bad, but as I mentioned, micro size portions without anything worth to mention taste wise and not any gastronomical marvels of courses.
Representation, specifically of that for the raw seafood like oysters, and service was nice but that is it. Very disappointing! Specially knowing that in New Marina almost any restaurant will serve you a great quality seafood for less and it is just a stone throw away.
P.S. chocolate tart, half of it on a...
Read moreThere is a big confusion around what this restaurant is trying to be. It claims to be a restaurant focused on the Greek cuisine, but the truth is that everything around it is something else: Russian chef, Russian staff, Russian clients, Russian prices. No problem with all that, but don't claim to offer any Greek soul food, as it's written on the menus. I am coming from Greece and there is no tartar, carpaccio, duck etc in our cuisine. So, apart from the full disorientation, the food is very nice, the staff is friendly and the space is really big and with a nice design and atmosphere. The prices are quite high, but this is what to expect from a Russian restaurant. For 2 starters, 2 main dishes and 1 bottle of wine the price went up to 130 euro. The cheapest wine was...
