Παντοπωλείο "Καλή Όρεξη" — Restaurant in Nicosia

This was the first time we visited this restaurant after it had moved to a new premise and we were eager to see how the move has affected the total dining experience. It was also a family member's birthday anniversary so it seemed like the perfect occasion to visit the restaurant again based on previous good experience. The first impression regarding the atmosphere is one of...confusion (!) : It appears that the new place must have previously been used for a related business. However it seems that the necessary renovation to give the place the same (or similar) look and feel as the original Pantopoulio hasn't taken place prior to the move. As a result, the furniture, the lighting, the decor and the overall atmosphere resembles more like a cafe rather than a restaurant. We all felt that, although bigger, this was a downgrade compared to the original place. Coming to the main point, being the food itself, we ordered the same dish as we did in previous occasions, being the Rib eye steaks as well as pork chop, a fish fillet dish and salads. While the fist was OK, unfortunately the same wasn't true for the steaks. We ordered our steaks mediumly-to-rare cooked but instead they all arrived burned- over cooked on the outside while still cold- raw in the inside. Now, I don't mind raw steak at all as I also like steak tartar, but having a steak served fridge cold inside, is a different matter! Most importantly, overcooking the outside left a nasty burned, bitter taste which overpowered any meat aromas that might have been present. The bitter aftertaste was still there even after we left the restaurant! This indicates either a lack of knowledge on how to treat meat or lack of care, the latter being worse! The pork chop was also over cooked and dry inside. On the good side we enjoyed a nice bottle of red wine which was infidelity on a different level compared to the food! So unfortunately this didn't turn out as expected and we left disappointed. The fact that this was also an anniversary dinner as opposed to a usual dine out , makes disappointment even worse.

Very nice modern Greek/ Mediterranean neo fusion restaurant I visited in off chance solo looking for just a beer and a light snack at best, by staying across the road at the Altius Boutique hotel . Food was described as served, well prepared , an array of flavours fresh and plated beautifully. Service was not intrusive at all, attentive ,and all the staff wore lovely smiles and were not rushed which pleasantly relaxed the dining experience. Backdrop to dining experience some soft dining jazz music, light Frank Sinatra classics , lighting made for a blissful dining experience. Given I was by chance passing in a t-shirt and shorts, I sat tucked away in a corner but enjoyed a fabulous Grilled Calamari on a bed of Beetroot Orange infused salad , along with a small carafe of white wine in an ice bucket , finished off with an Orange Mousse/creme which went down a treat. Will definitely revisit with my family or even for business dinners. I had a fantastic dining experience at Pantopoleio “Kali Orexi”. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. I tried the pork fried meatballs with fried potatoes and anari cheese—a perfect combination of crispy, flavorful meatballs, tender potato cubes, and the creamy richness of anari cheese. It was truly comforting and full of authentic Cypriot flavors.

I also enjoyed the Skioufichta pasta with bacon, anari cheese, and sausage with leeks, which was a delightful blend of textures and flavors. The creamy cheese and perfectly cooked pasta were a match made in heaven.

Beyond the amazing food, the service was exceptional. A small issue with my bill was resolved with great professionalism and kindness, which truly reflects their dedication to customer satisfaction.
