This is an amazing local family owned and managed restaurant that is a secret gem and jewel of this area. Authentic, real, local, uncompromisingly Cypriot food, done very very very well. Because the famy who own this also manage run and serve in the restaurant there is the care and pride of the family running through all aspects of cooking and service. You can tell that this is more than a commercial venture, it is history family and local cuisine and culture all wrapped into the experience.
There is a car park there, should you drive or take a taxi. It is located not too far from the main shops or restaurants and worth the extra 5 minutes walk if you are staying nearby.
The tables and the setting is good with plenty of space between the tables and you can choose to be in the back or side area or in the main area with a stage and band and excitement. So it suits all tastes from the exyrovwrtt to the bystanding introvert.
The restaurant has extensive and deep links into the local community so when you arrive you are walking into a community that is real joyful and family oriented.
The food is amazing! Well cooked, a broad variety of dishes, local dishes are available. It is worth asking the waiters and the team as to what to have according to your needs and tastes. Have the conversation before ordering and then take the recommendation!
We had the meze and it is a lot of food!! Overwhelming amounts and this was amazing! The ability to experience such a wide range of dishes was superb. We couldn't finish it but we may well be back to get other dishes.
The meat was fantastic, the dishes were varied, the dancing and singing was GREAT, we didnt join in but it was so good to enjoy others enjoying themselves.
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant.
I will return. (Maybe even...
Read moreWhat can be said about this place is that it is my favourite Taverna on the island. We have been coming here for over 5 years on our holidays and there is not much on the menu we have not tried.
Not one dish is disappointing.
Every dish has Mr Vlachos heart and soul in to it.
This evening we had the Moussaka and Pork Chop (Tomahpork steak) both cooked to perfection accompanied with a greek salad, the must have snails and some olives.
There are two types of snails that are served here the big hot ones and the smaller cold ones. The picture here is the hot verity.
You can see from the pictures there is seating for over 200 covers and it does get packed so best to book a table or get there early.
As I live locally too we do sometimes have a takeaway kebab which is the best around.
How can I not mention the Meze. Had it many times but there is only so much you have eat. The Meze here is a true reflection of authentic greek food and hospitality.
I look forward to coming back again and again.

Read moreI cannot praise this restaurant enough. Being in Larnaca for a two day meeting at a nearby hotel with several other delegates from all parts of Europe, Vlachos Tavern was one of two venues we were to have group dinners.
The food was AMAZING! There was so much of it, various meats and sauces just kept on coming just like the wine. Just when you thought you had cleared the plate, there was a waiter/ess standing close by with yet another plate full of food. The service was excellent as were the facilities. It certainly was great value for money too.
Vlachos meat meze menu rode high above any of our other dining out experiences. I would strongly suggest you make this as one of your ports of call when you are in there area. I for one WILL definitely go back when I'm next in Larnaca.
You're probably wondering why I only gave 4 and nor 5 stars if it was that good? Well, there is always room for improvement, no matter where of how good you...
