We stayed in this hotel for seven nights in mid-March. It is about a year old, of contemporary design, fronting onto a boardwalk and Oroklini Beach (which is pebble, not sand, at this point). It has 60 rooms spread over three blocks, none of which is more than five storeys high. There are other hotels nearby but this is not part of a hotel strip. There is some construction work going on –both for a new hotel (adjacent), private villas and apartments – but nothing was overly intrusive. The wider area includes coffee shops, restaurants, laundry, supermarkets and bars. It is bisected by the road from Dhekelia to central Larnaca along which regular public buses run (Nos 424 and 425). Whilst not secluded the area is not overdeveloped at the moment. We flew into Larnaca and caught a taxi to the hotel (when organised by the hotel this is €25 and takes about 30 minutes at peak times). There is a bus (number 425 to Dhekelia) from the airport via central Larnaca that passes the front of the hotel and which costs €2.40pp. The bus takes about 45 minutes. There is car parking on-site. On-street parking is available.||The hotel reception area is light, airy, spacious and stylish. It serves as a hub for one of the accommodation blocks (that overlooking the pool/courtyard) and one of the bars. Access to the second block and the three villas, runs beside the pool via a covered walkway. The second block houses a seasonal roof-top bar, the restaurant, the gym and the spa. We didn’t use either gym or spa!||We had a standard double room with a sea view in the second block. Although one of the smaller rooms on offer it did not feel cramped. It had a spacious balcony and was uncluttered. Tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room, there was a fridge and a safe. The bedroom has a very large double bed with excellent bedlinen. It was very comfortable. The aircon/heating was fine. There is a bench unit at the foot of the bed which serves as a writing desk with a soft chair and pouffe. The room was not made for lounging inside – the balcony – with its two chairs and table – was. For further lounging in the sun there are loungers with parasols around the pool and between the hotel and the boardwalk on an artificial lawn. The bathroom was neat and functional with a walk in shower and plenty of hot water at all times. Towels were lovely but toiletries were sparse. Wifi was free and more than adequate. There was some noise from the corridor and some inter-room noise – soundproofing could be better. Once the balcony door is closed there is little external noise. The roof top bar was not open during our stay and as we were immediately below it – we felt that it could be the source of a noise problem when open. ||All meals are served in the Kyma restaurant. This is a pleasant, comfortable space. There are tables inside as well as on a paved area outside. The breakfast is an extensive buffet with hot and cold selections in addition to local foods – all of which are of high quality and regularly replenished. Lunch and dinner in the same space are waitress service and whilst the menu is short - and even shorter for vegetarians – portions were substantial, reasonably priced and of the highest quality. Lunch starts after breakfast and ends immediately before dinner!! ||The Lobby Bar has considerable comfortable seating in discreet zones, including some outside near the pool. It does provide food from an abbreviated restaurant menu. It is open for most of the day.||All the staff were excellent and all spoke English. The level of professionalism of the people in this hotel belies the impression that it could just be another beach resort. The staff were incredibly helpful, unfailingly pleasant and attentive but not intrusive. Housekeeping was good and the maids helpful. ||There was wheelchair access and some accessible rooms. Any wheelchair-bound guest would be able to access all parts of the complex easily and reach the coastal boardwalk (but not the beach) without help. During our stay there were no package tour groups but we cannot imagine that the attraction of the hotel will be overlooked for long. ||Our stay was during a quiet period of the year and it was thoroughly enjoyable at a reasonable cost. All the facilities were in balance with each other – it never felt that it would get crowded even when at full occupancy. Elsewhere in the world the Mercure brand is not as well supported by Accor as it merits; this is an exception. It thoroughly deserves four stars and...

One of the highlights of my stay was undoubtedly the culinary experience. The resort boasts a variety of dining options that cater to every palate. Read moreMy mother and I recently spent 6 nights at Mercure Beach Hotel in Larnaca and had a truly relaxing and enjoyable stay. It’s a small hotel located in a peaceful area right on the beachfront, which was exactly what we were looking for.
Although there are great sunbathing facilities around the pool, we chose to spend every day on the beach. One of the highlights of our trip was the inflatable sunloungers that were placed out in the sea daily – such a fun and unique touch that we looked forward to each day!
We booked a standard double room and were slightly disappointed to find our view overlooked a construction site. While we didn’t expect or pay for a sea view, it would have been nice to have been notified in advance or offered the option to change. When I enquired about upgrading, we were told it would be €50 extra per night, which we declined. That said, the room itself was modern, clean, and serviced daily by the loveliest housekeeping team – always friendly and smiling. A couple of minor issues were the lack of towel rails/hooks for two people and that the comfy chair was too low to use at the mirror – nothing major, but worth noting.
Reception staff were friendly and always helpful – nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was basic but nice, with just enough variety to start the day. One of my favourite parts was feeding the resident cats bits of turkey ham in the mornings! It was lovely to hear from staff that the cats are well looked after and even seen by a vet monthly – such a thoughtful detail.
We dined twice at Kyma restaurant, and both meals were delicious with quick, attentive service. It would be nice to have some light evening entertainment or live music to encourage guests to linger a bit longer after dinner.
The hotel is perfect if you’re looking for a peaceful escape. It’s a quiet area with not much happening nearby, unless you take a 20-minute taxi into town. But for us, it was ideal – a place to unwind and recharge. The long promenade along the beachfront is lovely for walks or jogs and leads to a few local fish restaurants and more public beaches.
Special mention to the beach and pool staff who were excellent – always attentive and great communicators.
In conclusion, while this is a more basic stay, it’s a truly lovely one. The atmosphere, location, and staff made it just perfect for me and my mum. Thank you for having us – weve got 2 days left still, but already feeling...
