The moment that we came waiter looked very unsatisfied that we came in the first place. He escorted us to the table, handed over the menu and disappeared for 20 minutes. We would understand such a disappearance if the restaurant were overcrowded, but without us, there were three more tables with families finishing lunch. And the waiter himself chatted with his colleague, turning his back on us. The family that came after us waited 10 minutes and simply went out without reaching for the waiter.
So, after 20 minutes of waiting, our order was finally accepted, which we knew even before we came to the restaurant - the fish meze. We were four and ordered two mezes.
We received the first spreads 15 minutes after ordering, then all the dishes reached our table at a similar interval - 10-15 min.
The food all roasted, in small portions, looked really miserable. It also tastes not like a normal harbour restaurant.
But our wonder and anticipation did not end here.
It took another good 15 minutes before we got a chance to ask for a check. Then immediately, before the waiter could leave, we handed him the cash and waited for the return.
How long did we wait? No, not for 5 or 15 minutes. We were waiting for 30! Until we finally went to the bar and it turned out that he had forgotten about us for a while, and then it turned out that the waiter didn’t have enough money to give back the change! So, he had to run up somewhere and bring more money.
While we waited for the change we had another perception of how unequally this restaurant serves tourists and locals. In that 30 minutes, while we waited, two charming young Greek-speaking women sat down at the next table.
They were served instantly. All dishes were delivered within 10 minutes. But it was not the speed that saddened us, but the size of the portions of fish meze brought to them and the difference from ours.
I invite you to see for yourself in my attached photos. In the descriptions, you will see which photo is of the table of those two ponies.
And yes, I was furious enough to (politely) ask them to photograph their table and “amazing” dishes.
We have been living in Cyprus for a few years now and we always try to take the arriving guests to the great places of this island, but this "restaurant" will never be on this...
Read moreOk. It is terrible.
I ate several times in this place, it was less or more good, a bit overpriced regular fish tavern. Things become terrible when I did my last order. After the fishing, me and my friends were there for some beers. I decided to make a takeaway order to share it with my family. It was about half-hour to wait until the waiter finally saw us. We finally got our drinks and my take-away order. It was in boxes, so I opened it only when returned home. There were pasta, mussels and “speciality rice with prawns”. Pasta was good but the rest… almost a half of the mussels was without meat. And their rice, described as “Prawns with garlic butter. Large and small shrimps with garlic butter, brandy, parsley and wine. Served over rice with peppers, mushrooms, onions and mini shrimps.” was exactly as on the photo. Looks different, isn’t it? Will you pay 38 euro for that? I had to. Moreover, three of prawns presented in a box tailless, so they were worthless. I suppose the cooking person was too hungry and decided to share the meal with me.
I called them, emailed them twice and wrote in Facebook. They read my feedback, I see it in Facebook messenger. But I had no feedback at all, no money back, no quality food provision, even no sorry for their terrible meal quality.
Do not recommend them. There are a lot of fish taverns in Zygi, they might be better and more respectful to...
Read moreVibe: Relaxed , Ambience: 2/5, Price:€€€, Service: 3/5 ▫️Menu: when you open a menu at a fish tavern and it has a steak option; you know the food it’s not gonna be good. ▫️Salad and dips: Salad was fresh-ish but didn’t have enough dressing, the tahini was ok but the taramas dip was store bought and you could tell by the colour and taste. ▫️Fried calamari: as simple as this dish is it can go wrong very easily; and it did. The dough was falling off the calamari and the calamari it self felt so heavy and kept me up all night with indigestion. ▫️ Grilled cuttlefish: or should I say burned cuttlefish? I fed my portion to the cats. We actually sent this dish back and asked for the chef to try it. It was awful; don’t know if it wasn’t fresh and the chef over cooked it in order to overshadow that fact but it was one of the worst dishes I ever had. ▫️Red mullet: Was edible but not good. You could tell it wasn’t fresh and again the cats got to eat most of it. Overall: 2/5 Would definitely never revisit. Captains table has one of the most amazing views at sunset yet that’s the only thing it has. They didn’t charge us for the cuttlefish and our bill was €51 with a coke and a half pint beer. If they had charged us the bill would be €67 and with nearly €30per person you can go to any other fish restaurant and have an amazing meal. It’s overpriced for the quality and the service isn’t...
