Didn’t know the restaurant was closed for delivery only. We called and was welcomed by the owner to dine-in if we did not mind that there would be no staff to serve us except the chef. We were perfectly fine with it as it was the food that we were after. The owner also came down to make sure that we were let in the restaurant and made friendly conversation with us despite hurrying for his matter. I was surprised to see review where the owner was considered rude. Anyway, I believe that courtesy between people is a two-way thing.
Despite being told that there would be no service (just food), the chef was kind enough to serve us as best he could. The food too, was so GREAT and in such BIG PORTION that our craving was delightfully fixed! The chef made sure we were good from time to time and gave us some small dessert as we finished the meal.
Their good food, generosity and kind service during such difficult time for businesses made our day! Would definitely come again with more friends....
Read moreThis place was amazing! We arrived about 40 minutes before closing time and didn't think we'd be able to get in as food takes time to prepare and eat but we were warmly welcomed. The owner is Egyptian and runs the place with his wife and daughter. He was extremely kind and wished us happy Eid. He let us try his homemade raspberry and mint drink which was lovely as well as a fuzzy tamarind drink with was also nice. He let us see a menu on a computer screen so we could see pictures of the food and know what it would be like. The food was great and the prices were also good, it was also the only halal place we could find that was open as all other places had closed. We had biryani and the legions were a great size as well as the lamb and chicken square. They came with fresh naan, salad, hoummus, chili sauce and homemade potato chips. The biryani also came with raita with was delicious with the rice. The whole family was happy and enjoyed the meal, 4 of us for just under £30...
Read moreMy partner suggested that we could go here for a rendez-vous. I was pleasantly surprised, but that's nothing extra-ordinary, since I usually either expect nothing or expect worse-than-current-situation. This way, I feel prepared for most situations. The atmosphere was very nice, so was the staff. We sat at a really small table (now I don't remember if all tables were like that) and so I felt like a giant. The decorations weren't over-the-top, it's a nice space to find oneself in. The menus were really long, there's so many meals to choose from that one almost has trouble to choose. Saying that the restaurant is 'mostly vegan' would be nonsensical, but most of the meals are, indeed, plant-based and thus suitable for vegans, and neatly marked with the 'V' symbol for better orientation. So much to choose from! With some meals, they give you a small cup of bergamot/cardamom black tea . I/we will definitely come...
