I don't consider myself a picky eater. I should have been warned off by the appalling reviews of this place, but we decided to give it a try anyway, as it wasn't very busy when we got there.
First, the service. Not even a "Dobry den" reply to my greeting. Once we got seated and chose our items, we received a very strict "no", "we don't have that" answer to several items of the already restricted menu. Nothing like "we're sorry, we have a limited availability". Just a strict "no".
Anyway, two of us chose the "řízek" (schnitzel) with baked potatoes, as this seemed like the safe choice (I was thinking what could go wrong?). What we received was more like a fried pork steak - if you've ever made a schnitzel, you know the meat has to be tenderised properly into a thin layer which can then be fried in a short time, keeping it juicy yet well cooked at the same time. Well, not here. The steak wasn't tenderised at all, so it was too thick to be fried. Who knows, perhaps it was a frozen piece of meat that they just fried, but apparently not enough, as the final result was a medium-cooked steak. But with pork, you don't really want any raw uncooked meat when eating a schnitzel! Disgusted, we told the waiter it was uncooked. She grabbed the plates, without explanation just saying "Okay", and returned 15 minutes later with the same portions (we ate some of the potatoes and they returned the same partially-finished portions we had before, just re-heated). We weren't sure if the meat was a new piece or the same piece re-fried. But this time, it was hard as a used chewing gum and tasted horribly. I'm sorry to say this, but if a restaurant doesn't know how to prepare one of the very pillars of the local gastronomy, it doesn't deserve to be called a restaurant. I would be so ashamed having to work here. In the end, we told the waiter we would not be paying for the schnitzels, she said it was not her fault, but oh well.
