Booked a table for 8 in advance for a family celebration and got one table in the shade and one direct sunlight on a hot day (30 degrees) even though there was another free table. When we asked to be sat there in the shade, we were told that it was also booked. We assumed that someone was just coming and had specifically requested that very table. Turns out, NOT. No one showed up in the 2 hours we were there, only towards the last 10 minutes or so did this table get taken and by then we were all in shade anyway. There was no compassion shown, nor service attitude for a celebratory day. The food order was incorrectly delivered and the children were asked to share their delivered order until the remaining one plate was delivered in '10-15 minutes'. We waited for 40 minutes by when everyone else had finished their food except the birthday girl who did not even get her meal. When we chased it the waiter said that it would be ready soon. We then said that we did not want it any more because the children had been waiting that long that they had no appetite left, nor time due to the wait, the waiter insisted that we pack it and forced us to buy it. He even tried to by-pass us and talk to our guest about how he thought it was a good idea that we buy it and pack it. Totally unacceptable and rude! When we asked to pay the bill, this waiter again asked our one male guest if everything was OK. To which we jumped in as the hosts, 'except for the birthday girl not getting her meal'. Totally unacceptable to get the order wrong, blame the customer, not get the balance order in the time they said and then force us to buy that packed meal! Even if we overlook leaving us to bake in the sun. Which world are these people...
Read moreMy friends and I decided to try this restaurant on a Sunday when visiting the beautiful city of Kutna Hora. The many positive reviews caught our attention and decided to give it a try. We arrived at lunch time and the place was super crowded. At the beginning we didn't feel welcomed since waiters were looking at us a bit weirdly, but then they walked us to our table. We preferred sitting outside since it was a nice day and this beautiful little court with a fish pond and trees around us made our staying very pleasant. The place is beautiful, there are many rooms and locations both in the inside and outside so you can choose what you like the most. We waited for almost one hour to get our food served and about 40 minutes to get drinks (I understand if the place is that crowded). The drinks were good, we had lemonades and beers, however sometimes after asking us if we wanted our drinks refilled, they forgot about it so we had to ask for it multiple times. As starter we had an asparagus soup that was super delicious with bread crumbs on top. As main course I tried the stewed pork with some potato/bread slices. I wouldn't say it was bad tasting but honestly it wasn't my favourite. The menu is plenty of typical Czech food and the best dishes are with meat. There are also some vegetarian options. I would recommend it as the food is good and the place is beautiful. In my opinion a bit overrated but definitely worth trying. The price was average (400 czk, about 15/16 euros) for a lemonade, soup and main course. Hope you'll find it...
Read moretook a day trip from prague to kutna hora and v ruthardce was the highest rated restaurant so we decided to eat lunch here. for the expectations set by reviews, we were unfortunately underwhelmed.
the restaurant is in the main town area. there is indoor seating and a nice outdoor patio seating area. service was alright, not the friendliest and was pretty slow. they charged us 40czk/2 euros for ketchup which seems a little crazy just to dip french fries in. they also charged for tap water which we didn't ask for.
// duck confit with potato dumplings, red cabbage with cranberries and red wine (255czk) // the duck, cabbage, and potato dumplings had good flavors--we liked that it was less sweet than other places we've tried it (sometimes the cabbage or duck sauce is too sweet). however, the duck was not as moist/tender and on the dry side.
// pulled pork burger with fermented red onion and mustard dressing, farmer's fries (205czk) // i decided to try the pulled pork burger since i wanted a break from czech cuisine. the burger was large and came with a generous side of french fries. the mustard was a nice touch since i am used to bbq sauce. good portion of pork too. the bun however was quite thick and felt slightly greasy.
overall, the food was good; however, given the raving reviews i wouldn't say it's anything special and the service was just okay. prices seem high for kutna hora but lower than prague, and it was still a bit questionable that they charged so much...
