Went to this restaurant due to the good reviews on Google and trust pilot. The decorations inside the restaurant gave it a medieval vibe which was lovely. The restaurant was completely empty inside, besides from us and only 2/3 couples/groups sat outside. We did visit in early September which is off season for the area. We were served by a waitress who wasn't very welcoming, but we didn't mind this as long as the food was good. We ordered the goulash and the strudel. The goulash was very tasty and a very large portion size, I could not finish it. Whilst eating our mains, I noticed one of the other waitresses blowing her nose frequently and never washing her hands. This made me feel uneasy, but as it wasn't our waitress I wasn't overly concerned. The strudel came on a piping hot plate and looked like it had been microwaved (had dried out in certain areas), which was disappointing. The strudel tasted okay but the texture wasn't great. I finished mine, but my partner could not finish his. For drinks, my partner ordered the Kutna Hora beer on tap, which he liked. I ordered a raspberry lemonade and the alchohol free fruit beer. The fruit beer was lovely, but the raspberry lemonade didn't taste of anything. Overall the meal was tasty and had very large servings and most of the drinks were great. However, the next morning, myself and my partner had upset stomachs (pain and diarrhea). This meal was the only food we'd eaten that was the same, so it was likely due to this meal, but we obviously can't be 100% sure. My partner felt better after a day, but I am still suffering with stomach pains, nausea and diarrhea nearly a week after this meal. It was a bad end to our trip as this was the last meal of our holiday, and likely made us unwell on the day of flying home. If I could go back in time, I would have chosen to eat...
Read moreOn our day trip to Kutná Hora, we wanted a lunch of Czech food, so we stopped here. Although the restaurant was quite busy, service was good, and the beers were enjoyable, including one exclusive to the restaurant. I ordered the fiery beef goulash, which started out pretty mild but then gained a good amount of heat as the cut jalapeño had more time to permeate the dish, and had a rich, hearty gravy with tender chunks of beef. My companion who does not eat red meat ordered an alchemist chicken dish which he really enjoyed. We shared a bowl of mushroom potato soup that was quite delicious, as well as an order of mashed potatoes with onion. All of the portions were quite large, and the dishes were well-seasoned and enjoyable. The table next to us ordered pork knuckle and a venison saddle- massive portions and the food looked well-prepared if you are into heavier, meatier items. Dessert looked very good, but we were too stuffed to even consider it. For the amount and quality of food we had, the bill was quite modest, though know that it can be a bit pricier than other restaurants depending on what you order- well worth the price though. Lovely lunch in an interesting...
Read moreWe took a day trip from Prague to Kutná Hora and stumbled upon Dačický—a restaurant that turned out to be a highlight of the day. The moment you step inside, you’re immersed in a warm, medieval tavern-like atmosphere with wood-paneled walls, long communal tables, charming antique décor, and even a painted mural that gives the place a timeless character. It’s the kind of spot where you half-expect a poet or a knight to pull up a chair.
The menu is full of hearty traditional Czech dishes—think slow-roasted meats, creamy sauces, and of course, dumplings done right. Everything we tried was comforting and flavorful. Pair it with their excellent selection of Czech beers on tap or do what we did—order a carafe of surprisingly good and budget-friendly red wine.
Like many European restaurants, Dačický keeps it honest: reasonably priced, generous portions, and no food poisoned with genetically modified additives or chemical preservatives. Just real food, made well.
Service was no-frills—quick, to the point, and efficient. No small talk, just good food delivered fast.
If you’re making the trip out to Kutná Hora (which you should), Dačický is absolutely worth...
