Makalu Restaurant — Restaurant in okres Ostrava-město

I was on a business trip to Ostrava. Wanted to have Indian style food. When i searched on google Makalu was an option. It is at a walking distance from The Old town Square. It is a small but a good place.

The first day i ordered the Indian Lamb thali. Thali consists of a Naan/ Roti, Rice, Raita/ Chuttni, and Lamb Fry. The food was tasty but not spicy for an Indian.

Second day i orded a Chicken Thali and a Biryani and asked them to make it like it is made in India and there it was felt like home.

The Nepali guy taking order there is quite helpful and he will also suggest you as per your taste. It is a must visit place if in Ostrava. Specially for foodies away from home and want some Indian taste in...

Zacnu vyhodami: 1) dokažete si najit stul bez rezervace, což jsem zjisitl ze v dnesni dobe v teto casti ostravy je asi obrovska rarita. 2) Porce celkem prekvapi, hlavne mnozstvi naanu a celkove jeho chut to pro me bylo prekvapko oproti jinym ind / nepalskym restauracim.

Pojdme ted k tomu neutralnimu: 1) Obsluha ja naprosto amatérska... dve blondate zeny stredniho veku pokřikuji pres celou pobocku a doslova píčují a kurvují z kuchyne a je to slyset pres pul restaurace. 2) Zase na druhou stranu ono ty pofiderni ostravské cikorky clovek musi nejak vyhnat od stolu.. to zas beru a jejich chovani bylo jak chovani reznickeho psa aleee aspon minimalne na me pusobily mile 3) sedelo se u kolateho stolu a dostali jsme k nam dalsi dva lidi co byli spolu takze jsme sedeli vlastne u jednoho stolu s cizima lidma, me osobne to nevadilo a omluvili se za to - beru to jako neutralitu, jelikoz aspon si sem clovek nemusi volat na rezervaci kdyz se takhle lidi mezi sebou domluvi

Ted to negativni: 1) Jidlo nam prislo pomíchané.. lidi vedle nas objednali o 15 min pozdeji a dostali to drive nez my, resp dostali nase jidlo - museli jsme to tem lidem rict, protoze jim se to nezdalo ze by si objednavali Chicken Butter a ne Tikka Masalu a navic to asi nejdulezitejsi, ja si objednal palive a muj kamarad nepalive jidlo, neprislo jsme na to co bylo co, takze dotaz na to jak to chceme je asi zbytecny... kor kdyz se jim to tam tak moc plete. 2) Butter chicken nebo chcete-li v jejich podani Chicken Butter to tusim meli.. VUBEC nechutna tak jak by spravne butter chicken chutnat mel a to je mozna vlastne i duvod proc davam jen 2 hvezdy, normalne bych dal minimalne 4, ale tady z toho jsem byl fakt zklamany. "Rajcatový zaklad" chutna jak prefabrikat a celkove butter chicken pusobil spis jak rajská omacka - BEZE SRANDY. Maso bylo fajn, Naan byl luxusni, mnostvi lepsi prumer cena... eh v dnesni dobe asi normalni. Vicemene nemam sem uz duvod nejak chodit, zkusil jsem a vim ze to neni uplne muj styl, ale nekomu to asi...

I have been here a few times and the food is always excellent. If you are used to spicy food then ignore the other reviews regarding how spicy things are as I'm used to spicy food and having ordered the Nepalese hot, hot I can say that it's not that spicy compared to a phal or similar in a UK curry house. There's a great choice and the portions are reasonably big. It lacks the authentic feel/atmosphere of an Indian restaurant but makes up for it in the taste and quality of the food.
