I love Indian Food. Indian food is not one thing. It is as richly diverse as the culture and country it comes from. I am an American with Czech parent and family. I prefer foods with flavorful tastes of spices and little to medium spicy heat.
Tresind is a brand-new restaurant in an area of beautiful homes. I arrived at the restaurant with a Czech friend who had never had Indian Food. I had asked him if he liked spicy heat and he is like me mild or so. When we walked in my first impression was elegant. I felt like I had stepped out of the fray and entered a place of order where the waiters had the whitest jackets I have ever seen. Everything was orderly, calming, with feeling of effortless elegant ease.
The restaurant has a comfortable number of tables for the size. It looked like a place to come to dine with friend(s), associate, family or alone whether for lunch, afternoon, or evening. Indian food is great for good conversation.
As my friend had never had Indian food I asked our waiter, Raj, if he could help us make choices. Raj is a true professional. He knows every dish in detail. He asks us questions, explains, guides us. I felt like in a time when people dined. We wanted something different than beef or pork. He suggested lamb and fish. That is what we ordered.
I had the fish, which not to be cliché, was delicious. It had the exotic flavors of India with just the right amount of heat for me. My Czech friend got the lamb. He went silent. That was an exceptionally good sign. I knew the spices in Indian food would be new to him. How is it? He did not answer. He went back to his food. I got a clear sense he really enjoyed his food.
We stayed there awhile. There was no hurry. I work across nine time zones from Prague to London to Chicago to San Francisco so for me, having time without pressure or hurry is precious time. So happy my friend enjoyed his first Indian Food. I left feeling rejuvenated, uplifted, and certain to be...
Read moreAfter going here for a couple of years, I unfortunately have to downgrade my review based on recent experiences. We took friends there for dinner tonight and the service was embarrassing. We ordered four portions of poppadoms and mixed pickle and the waiters only brought two portions of poppadoms, so we had to remind them and wait for the other poppadoms to be brought out. We asked for a bottle of still water, which we also had to remind them about. Despite it not being that busy the waiters got completely mixed up and gave our food order to the table next to us. When the other table realised, the waiters put half of our order on the side and left the rest sitting on the other customers table while they sorted out their mistake. Then they tried to hurry us to finish our poppadoms so they could serve us the food they had just served to the other table. They handled their mistake really poorly and didn't apologise for it. One of the waiters was quite rude to our friend and asked him to finish his beer so he could take the glass! He was also quite rude to us in the way he kept telling people where to put things on the table (the table was too small and there wasn't enough room for everything). And we found the way he kept putting his hand on our young daughter inappropriate ( he touched her face as soon as she sat down, and put his hand on her back at another point). He also started telling her to "sit" so he could put a napkin on her lap - it is not appropriate for him to do this. So, after a couple of years of going here we won't...
Read moreTresind has completely changed my perception of Indian restaurants. It does not need to be overly decorated in a cliché or over the top way. Instead, it is sophisticated, spotless and has a lovely atmosphere with tasteful music.
The hospitality of the owner is exceptional and the service from the whole team is warm, attentive and professional. We enjoyed it so much that we came here twice during our stay, once for lunch and once for dinner. We had butter chicken, chilli chicken, chicken curry, mattar paneer, mixed vegetables and chicken vindaloo.
The food is truly authentic, each dish has its own distinct flavour and you can tell they prepare different bases rather than using the same sauce for everything. They even make their own paneer using milk from a local farm, giving it an excellent texture, a must try.
The presentation of the dishes is thoughtful without being fussy and portion sizes are generous. Spices are perfectly balanced, aromatic without being overpowering, and the ingredients taste fresh. Whether you are new to Indian cuisine or a long time fan, Tresind is the kind of place you will want...
