I had one of the most delightful dinners at Osteria 16. We didn’t have a reservation, but the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. We were seated at a small counter in the back, which turned out to be extremely comfortable, with the staff giving us attentive service throughout.
The restaurant offers a fixed-price set menu with several small plates. The portions are well-balanced, so you leave feeling satisfied but not overly full. They also have a great wine list—I paired my meal with an organic orange wine, which was fantastic. One small suggestion: it would be great if they offered pairing recommendations based on the menu.
Emil, the owner, was incredibly warm and welcoming, always engaging with guests, explaining the dishes, and sharing great conversations. The restaurant is small but has a great atmosphere, with the kitchen centrality-right positioned, adding to the lively flow of the space.
If I had one minor critique, the heating was a bit too warm, and after a few glasses of wine, I found myself needing to step outside to cool down. Slightly lowering the temperature would make the experience even more comfortable.
Overall, Osteria 16 is a fantastic spot, conveniently located near the underground. Highly recommend if you’re...
Read moreThis is by far the worst restaurant experience of my entire life. Arrived at 8:50 PM, got seated and explained the unique menu. By 9:30 PM we finally got served the first antipasti olives and salami (cold plate requiring not kitchen time) after asking why we’ve not been served. 10PM… nothing else has been served to us. The waiters don’t acknowledge you, they have a break every 15 min and just chat with their friends. At this point, we had to ask about the rest of the food as we had 7 antipasti to be served. The waiter was not pleased by our request and seem to not understand even why we complained. It’s normal to wait, it’s fully booked he mentioned. Don’t ask for more bread if you’re starving, you won’t get it. Being in a restaurant with a unique menu to prepare, 7 cold plates and two meatballs hot and cooked, it’s apparently normal to have eaten 2 olives in one hour.
Apart from the service, if you have been to Italy or have a delicate palate for Italian food, do not come here as you’ll be extremely disappointed by the lack of finesse. Polpette (meatballs) were overcooked.
I am actually so surprised to find such good reviews which made me write mine in hope to save some people their money and go to any other place possibly...
Read moreEdit: ate here a second time in late August of 2019. It was even better than the first time. The staff was bliss, very listening, professional, and kind, and the food was succulent, delicate, tasteful, punchy, fresh, and delicious in the extreme. The prices are outrageously low for what you get. This is a fave place in Copenhagen and my fave Italian restaurant.
Very tasty Italian food, where very fresh, directly imported produce meets great cooking in a busy-yet-not-too-loud place. I'm a veggie, and the staff had no qualms about this. Loads of small dishes were flaked-out over our small table as we tried our best not to devour them at once. The buffalo mozzarella with truffles was splendid and an example not only of simple and wondrous Italian cuisine - I've been to a Italy and eaten foods that this matched - but of tender care and great produce that together created a great experience. Spice Girls and Sugababes were played from the speakers which also was fun. Very good wine (albeit a sparse selection) and very kind and nice staff made this one of my absolute top selections of all my highlights...
