We went here looking at all the good ratings and reviews. Didn’t like this place at all on multiple levels. Firstly, they close curtains at the entrance door so nobody inside can see there are people waiting to be seated. When we stepped in multiple times politely waiting at door to get noticed to be seated, multiple servers going around but again nobody is on lookout to see if there are customers waiting. Finally I had to call the restaurant standing outside (and it doesn’t go through either from maps/website because I’ve phone number from sweden, and number on maps doesn’t have area code. The copy paste of contact from website doesn’t work. Had to manually dial). Someone answers and immediately comes in says sorry and gets us in. And then there is another person that had to go twice to check a place for us and keeps us waiting more. We appreciate its a busy place but it felt like we were treated badly/lowly.
Finally we get seated at bar and both of us vegetarians order ravioli dumplings starter and vegan pesto pizza. Sorry to say but it wasn’t at all good. But we ate half way through given both of us were hungry. And we leave the rest of the food and ask for check nobody even cares to ask if food is good through out. I’d never go again nor recommend anyone to be there. It could be one of those places that makes bad vegetarian dishes but good otherwise. But oh the way they treated us was sad. Would have left the place in blink of an eye if we...
Read moreWow! Just visited Copenhagen for the first time on my own. Had diner at Pizzeria MaMeMi. I ordered a pizza from their menu with an unsual combination of ingredients. As a surprise I got a free starter: Mashed beans with herbs and toast. Served beautifully and tasted delicious. After that I got the pizza I ordered. The way it looked was equal to the way it tasted: unbelievably. All the different flavours fitted perfectly together. They checked several times how I was and how the food was. Not in a disturbing way, but in an honest, caring way.
They asked me if I wanted a dessert. The pizza was actually enough, but I wanted to check the menu (just in case). My favorite dessert: creme brulee. I told Vincent, the man who made my diner an evening full of pleasent surprises, that I needed some time to be less 'full'.
A couple of minutes later he surprised me again with a free tea with lemon, orange, ginger and honey. My smile grew and grew over the evening.
Then the dessert: beautifully served creme brulee with an amazing taste. And again.. Surprise! A free moscato that fitted perfectly with the dessert.
Honestly, this is the best diner-experience I've ever had. Thank you so much Pizzeria MaMeMi for everything. A special thanks to Vincent who made me leave the restaurant with a big, big...
Read moreThis place is a gem! Had high hopes after reading reviews, but expectations were exceeded. After years of traveling the world eating pizza (and other things), I finally found my favorite pizza place. We arrived early and there were no guests there. I was a bit skeptical and thought that this is not popular. After 20 minutes the place was full and people were waiting for tables! The pizza: We ordered two different ones. My better half took the Carbonara, I the Guanciale. Wine was suggested by the owner and matched perfectly! It took about 17 minutes until we got the food and before that we got a little teaser which was super good. The taste of the dough was fantastic. The bottom very thin and crispy. The topping on the one I ordered was a thousand flavors from salty to sweet, from deep to light, yes, everything your palate can desire. My wife's Carbonara pizza was cheesy, elegant in its flavors and really savory.
We finished with dessert which was also delicious.
The owner came and asked which pizza was the best... my wife said hers was the best, I said mine was the best :-D So both were top!
The place is close to Istegade and the area is a bit .... but I think that makes it even better. Thank you for an experience of the rare MaMeMi!...
