We went to celebrate our anniversary and got the Sokkelund Menu, as we had heard great things about the place.
The burrata and tomato salad along with the bread and dip for the potato chips were the stars of the meal. The quail and mushroom dish was rich but very, very heavy and the two didn't go well together. The fried mushrooms were nice but nothing special. Everything was fatty.
As a starter sharing menu it was a strange combination of flavors and kitchens. It didn't really go together and I would just order a normal starter.
We were lucky that the menu included water, as the waiter we ordered with quickly went away after we put in our food order and didn't return for the rest of the evening expect to take our main course plates and forget to give us the check until we asked his colleague 20 minutes later.
When our table was cleared of the dishes from the starter I asked the other waiter to order to wine in 2 minutes when my partner returned from the toilet but we were again forgotten and the food was delivered by the kitchen.
The main course was equally fatty and I scraped a full table spoon of peber of my peber steak to be able to eat it. The sauce was amazing but the potatos were drenched in fat. My partner got the steak frites, which was good but nothing special.

Some of us were gluten intolerant, and the skilled personnel was helpful to identify the possible options on the menu. It featured many French classics, but I chose the tartare burger as I had never seen it being served before. The tartare patty was of amazing quality, well-seasoned and very well formed. A combination of pickled gurkin and onion gave the burger a unique taste. The top of the patty had a melted slice of cheese too, and I'm still not quite sure how the chef managed without also cooking the patty. This might have been the most unique and best tasting burger I've ever had. The side of fries was crunchy and tasted wonderful in combination with the bearnaise sauce. Read moreJeg havde fået anbefalet Café Sokkelund som værende blandt de "bedre" caféer i København, hvilket givetvis er korrekt. Men jeg må sige, at stedet skuffede mig enormt. Jeg fik deres tatar med trøffel, og køddet var tilpas sejt til, at jeg burde have sendt det tilbage til køkkenet. Til info så er tatar min absolutte livret, og jeg har efterhånden testet langt over 100 forskellige varianter bare i Danmark. Café Sokkelund indtager en sikker 2. plads som den sejeste udgave, jeg har smagt. Det var dog tydeligvis en meget travl dag for stedet, så der blev ikke spurgt om "alt var som det skulle være". Og ret skal være ret: køddet var ikke uspiseligt, hvorfor jeg trods alt ikke proaktivt opsøgte en tjener. En vis portion af konfliktskyhed spiller sikkert også ind. Men 349 kr er i den dyre ende for tatar, og til den pris kan man med rimelighed forvente højere kvalitet. Udover den tvivlsomme kvalitet af køddet, må jeg sige, at de øvrige ingredienser, køddet var rørt med, ikke bidrog til sammenhængen. Det er fint, at man forsøger sig med en mere ambitiøs udgave end den klassiske franske (der dog generelt slår denne med længder), men her var der simpelthen tale om det, jeg vil kalde bevidstløs brug af trøffel. Her hæfter jeg mig iøvrigt ved bemærkningen i menukortet: "Vi anbefaler Frisk Trøffel til din hovedret" - som om det er en mirakuløs råvare, der gør enhver ret bedre. Jeg er glad for trøffel, men der var tydeligvis ikke nogen større tankevirksomhed med trøffel i denne ret. Endelig må jeg sige, at det er uhøfligt at rydde af bordet, før alle er færdige med at spise. Nuvel, vi havde kun bordet i halvanden time, men grunden til at vi var forholdsvis pressede på tid, skyldes at der gik en halv time, før vi fik lov at bestille vores mad. Som en sidebemærkning ringede alarmklokkerne allerede, da jeg med foragt kunne læse, at der oplyses to priser for alle glas vin, afhængigt af skænkningens størrelse. Jeg har aldrig set det før - og hvis man endelig vil være så nøjeregnende, var det måske på sin plads at oplyse hvor mange cl. de to skænkningsmuligheder består af. Ganske sigende om stedet.
Konklusion? Ekstrem dårlig værdi for pengene i et meget travlt sted, der tenderede massebespisning, hvor hovedformålet øjensynligt er at kradse penge ind. Vi er privilegerede med så mange gode spisesteder i København - jeg kan kun anbefale at gå i en stor bue uden om...
