Altopalato — Restaurant in Gentofte Municipality

Visited the restaurant in Feb 2025 for the second time with high expectations as our first visit in 2022 was very positive. This time around, 2 from our group got sick within 2-4 hours with vomiting and diarrhea. More unfortunate was that the restaurant claimed it was more likely that 2 people randomly gets sick at the same time after visiting their restaurant and not because of the food they served. Exactly what I want from authentic Italian food. Simple, elegant dishes using great, fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. Everything on the plate is treated with love and respect, to the point that even a wedge of carrot or a small bread roll is memorable. The staff are attentive and charismatic without ever being obtrusive. Proper Italian charm and definitely a step above most places in Denmark, even at this price range. Visited in February 2025 during Dining week. The food was fine, but nothing special. The best dishes were the bread we got on arrival and the tiramisu in the end, which are from the regular menu. The sauce for the main course was delicious, vbut the veal was a bit too cooked for my taste. The service was somewhat disappointing: the two glasses of wine we got contained quite different amounts of wine, and none of the food was presented.
