First, the good. The service was fantastic, they were very polite and quick to take our order.
The pizza arrived within 15 minutes which was incredibly impressive considering we were 4 people.
The restaurant itself looks very pretty, very authentically italian. Offers a wide variety of wines and meat which I believe is also very italian.
The pizza dough was absolutely stellar. I found myself snacking on the remaining crusts after I finished eating the part of the pizza with the toppings itself. Usually the crust isnt particularly appetizing (not in denmark at least), but this was just incredibly delicious by itself.
There is no directly bad part of this review, but there WAS something I am unsatisfied with.
I ordered pizza number 8, the quattro formaggi. 60% of the pizzas surface was delicious, fantastic blending of ingredients and all very tasty. The remaining 40%, however, the area around the middle of the pizza, was... not the best.
All the oil from the cheeses had piled up there, and the mozerella was way too thick. Alongside that, there was also too much aragula, and those things combined drowned out absolutely every other flavour, which was a huge shame cause the flavour which WAS there was just amazing.
I wasnt able to eat the full thing because it was just too oily around the middle. Definitely got a doggy bag though, not letting this overall great food go to waste.
My cousin eating next to me got the nr. 5, the parma, and he looked on the verge of climax while eating the whole thing. The other two people who were with us also seemed wholly satisfied, it seemed to just have been my pizza which was subpar.
Still, will ABSOLUTELY recommend this place. I would rate it 4.5 if I could but alas, I am...
Read more“Wow, feels like being in Italy!”, my kids commented on our first visit. Now, after 5 visits and a careful assessment I can confidently say that...our prayers have been answered :-) Da Basso is the place we Italians in Hellerup have been waiting for. We first tried pizzas for dinner (finally a good pizza in hellerup with sit-down option, spending a reasonable 800 dkk for 6 people), then 2 quick lunches and 2 delicatessen orders. These included lasagne for a large home dinner with friends (can make the order the day before), with a bottle of the good and affordable wine produced by one of the co-owners on Mount Etna in Sicily. Da Basso is authentic Italian, as you would find in Milan or Rome, Italian-run, open the whole day and fairly priced. Can something be improved? Of course, this is a new business and growth takes time (most waiters are new). But what is most promising is that food quality seems to be the priority. Personally, we like seeing a focus on GOOD FOOD AT A GOOD PRICE, not appearance, and this is exactly it. Some suggestions for management: first, we feel that the sit-down pizzeria/restaurant option should be promoted more, it can easily be overlooked from the outside; second, we’d like to see clearer menus and prices on the delicatessen counter. Big thanks to all the staff, keep up the good work and...
Read moreHad pizza number 7 (mozzarella, oven baked potatoes, bacon and rosemary) which was delicious, especially the bacon! If I had to make any suggestion to improve it, I would say the bacon could be cut into smaller slices.
My colleague who is vegetarian had the number 8 which is the four cheese pizza. It was proper fire cooked pizza and came quickly which we both enjoyed.
As there was no English translation, and none of the pizzas were obviously denoted as being vegetarian on the menu itself (big green V elsewhere), we translated most things before the waiter had arrived. He informed us that all the pizzas could have the...
