We were unfortunately very disappointed. I will try to summarize why in a few points. We visited the place at the weekend, in the morning. Understandably, it was crowded and so we queued up and waited to be seated. As our moment approached and we were about to be seated, we were shamelessly overtaken by a group of older people. So I asked the attendant (the only guy serving there) what was the meaning of this? For what reason did he not seat us and let us be overtaken after a 30 minute wait? The answer? He insincerely lied to me that it was the owner of the establishment. Of course, he didn't even look me in the eye while telling me this. These so called owners had gone to order and they were clearly not the owners, a) they spoke English b) the staff had no higher respect for these individuals (if they were supervisors, they would certainly have behaved differently. As a rule of thumb, I follow the "my customer, my master" rule, which the gentlemen servers here didn't know about. It's absolute rudeness and his behaviour is beyond reproach.
Not to be merely critical, I will mention the well made coffee and the nicely designed interior.
However, the prices here are high, we left 400DK for a small breakfast with two coffees. We waited about 20-30 minutes for our food.
Hopefully this will help someone and I also hope that the gentleman making the coffee will get someone from the management to figure out how to...
Read moreJust an overrated hype place, but good enough to take a photo of an empty coffee cup on marble windowsill for Instagram. A few crucial points: It is not just a coffee shop, this place is serving breakfast/brunch dishes, so I don't get the idea of not taking reservations and making people wait in line for 0,5-1 hour. Your guests spend around an hour inside the place, so it would be much smarter to get a booking system in place. After waiting an hour in a queue, I had to wait good 15 mins at the counter for my order to be taken because (ATTENTION!) "there is no space on the fridge tabletop to write down your order, so you have to wait until we send some other orders". NONSENSE. Get a piece of paper and write down my order, it is that simple. Had to wait good 30-40 mins for food to come. Sweet pancakes were served before bread and butter. Why would you do that? Please call it "almond sponge cake", not pancakes, pancakes is about something else. The staff is too concentrated on in between conversations instead of giving attention to customers. In general, the place doesn't value...
Read moreDisappointing experience – kind staff but poor execution
I really wanted to like Atelier September. The space is beautiful and the staff are kind, but the experience left a lot to be desired.
It took 25 minutes to receive a simple espresso and flat white – far too long for two basic coffees. I had already received my croissant when I ordered, so the intention was to enjoy the three together. Instead, I ended up eating in awkward phases with no real flow.
I had also ordered a porridge, and clearly asked to get everything on the side, especially the blueberry jam, so I could portion it to my taste. After 30 minutes, what I received was a small portion of porridge soaked in butter or oil, with cinnamon on top (which I never asked for), and just a few blueberries on the side. It was so greasy I could literally tilt the plate and see the fat drip off.
A place with this kind of reputation and pricing really needs to match their style with substance. Right now, Atelier September feels like it's coasting on aesthetics while forgetting the basics of hospitality and...
