El Parrillón monumental — Restaurant in Santiago de los Caballeros

Great food but lousy atmosphere. Recommended for delivery or take-out ONLY.

Dominicans all seem to have the idea that gas stations and car washes are good locations for restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. This is a terrible idea for obvious reasons, which I will explain for the benefit of the slow.

The best locations for gas stations are on major roads and near busy intersections. The DR is full of motorcycles, swarms of motorcycles, most of which have no mufflers. They have no mufflers because the boys who ride them think it’s cool to damage them so they make a lot of noise.

The result of this is that if you have a restaurant located on a major road near a busy intersection, there will be a constant intolerable roar of motorcycles and the lingering stench of gasoline and exhaust fumes. If this isn’t enough to ruin your meal at an otherwise good restaurant, I don’t know what is.

Horrible experience, I attended this restaurant for my mothers birthday and it’s been the worst experience in the entire country. We waited over an hour for our food and when the food arrived it was rock hard cold. This place is not recomendable. Waitress seem to be annoyed when we expressed our concern. They didn’t even offer water! Drinks tasted like it was made with toilet water. Worst experience ever ! Would not attend this place even if I was paid to do so.
