First things first, the food is amazing. We ordered 7 items off the menu, the mushroom was phenomenal it’s a must order and so were the fish tacos. The reason for the review is because this restaurant has the potential of being even better. The service is horrible. I’m from Brooklyn, New York where SERVICE is just as important as the food. I ordered The Patecon which was the first item that came out to the table and as soon as I bit into it, I saw a black hair on it. I called the waiter and told him to take this to the chef and handed it over to him. He the waiter came back and said, “Eso es chicharon, asi viene” which means, “That’s fried pork skin, that’s how it comes” in a non sympathetic tone of voice. Instead of apologizing, I had to tell him how this is unacceptable, that there was a black hair in my food, he walked away and gave us a thumbs up. The chef sent us another Patecon appetizer 10 mins later which I was not expecting. I thanked the waiter but he made me feel as if I did something wrong. Second incident was when the busser came to clear the table, she dropped a dirty fork on my mother and didn’t apologize. I waited to see if she would say anything but she kept cleaning while my mom is whipping down her clothes with a paper napkin. Where’s the hospitality? At least offer a linen with club soda so she can take the grease off the clothes you just damaged. Not once did the waiter ever ask us if everything else was okay, if we wanted another drink or water. I had to dry my own table with my napkin which they didn’t replace for a new one. One of our knives fell on the floor and was never picked up or replaced. When we finally asked for our check we never got a thank you, not even for the 15% tip we left after a terrible service. Overall, I hope my review will be taken serious to make this place the 5 stars it...

Read moreLocated right on a historic road in Santiago, Dominican Republic, El Tablón Latino is one of the best spots to get some good food. My fiancé and I are traveling doing some wedding planning stuff, and she insisted that we come here as it has always been one of her favorite places. So we went. Let me preface this by saying, I’m Nuyorican. I enjoy Latin food. I love my Latin food. I currently live in Miami. I’m used to a certain level of service when eating out. This place blew all of that out of the water. The food, the service the atmosphere, everything is top notch. Our waiter always made sure we were taken care of. The food was fresh and hot and delicious. The dessert was out of this world. And for the price!? You can’t find something better. So if you find yourself in DR and not in the overpopulated parts, definitely try El Tablón in Santiago and let your taste buds run wild. Until next time folks!...
