Family run restaurant right in front of the Hebu temple with delicious food and the best prices. They are all very welcoming and attentive to their customers and can speak very good English (some better than others but they help each other out too). We went here twice in our 3 day stay on the west bank. Our favorite meals were the omelette and the falafels (ordered off the menu). The bread and salad they provide are excellent as well. They also had some other good vegetarian friendly options. Best of all they do not try to hustle you and it's a very relaxed environment. We really needed this genuine attention after a few days in Luxor where you just want to be left alone. They didn't ask me to leave a review, and I usually don't do reviews, but this place deserves 5 stars and I wish them all the success in the world.

I loved this restaurant!! The garden seating is very beautiful and there is a lot of shade for a hot day. The lemon mint drink was nice and the Egyptian coffee is very good. We had the Spanish omelette with cheese and beets and fresh baked bread. It was delicious. Perfect after going to Habu across the street. I recommend coming here before or after the temple instead of your hotel restaurant. The food here is better, the owners are very kind and accommodating, and it’s a nice peaceful place to relax. Thank you very much cafe maratonga!!!

We visited here in February and it was lovely! The café is located just outside Medinet Habu and features a beautiful outdoor (shaded!) sitting area. The food was excellent - we had vegetable tajine, cous cous, the mezze platter, lentil soup, and the best bread I had while in Egypt. Every dish was spectacular and we went back three times while in Luxor! We also took a cooking with Masrya, one of the owners, and had an amazing time going to her garden, picking vegetables and herbs, and cooking an Egyptian meal. Highly recommend!!

Delicious food, amazing people. The portions were large and they're open late. I had to check out of my hotel early, and the family that runs the restaurant let me wait for my train there, and even helped watch my bag while I explored the temple across the street!! I had a great conversation with the father who runs the place, and he helped me arrange transportation to the ferry. Really above and beyond. I felt even more welcome at this restaurant than at the hotel where I stayed. And the coffee is delicious too!

What a great place - super convenient as it is located directly across from Medinet Habu temple on Luxor’s West Bank. If you’re in the area, this is THE place. We visited several times during our stay there and was met each time with warmth and love and great food. The family that owns and runs it treat guests with such hospitality that it is truly a home away from home. Amazing food and drink. Bird lovers may have a chance to meet Tonga, their resident hawk.

A very remarkable place in Luxor. So far it's been the only place in Luxor where i felt treated honestly- e.g. by the attitude of the owner or the clear price sign outside. The owner and team are very welcoming, the atmosphere in the restaurant is very cozy and relaxed. If you find the "lieblings Platz" you can have a view on the nearby temple. The food and coffee is outstanding, really enjoyed it.
