Zooba — Restaurant in Cairo

Visiting Cairo, my son was excited to try out Koshary and someone had suggested Zooba… we got there, no problem with seating, no one stopped us taking the table we wanted. Simple layout. Found a QR code to view the menu. Waiter comes and says that this QR code menu is for other branches and that they don’t have koshary 😒😒. Waiter was polite but seemed clueless and forgot to add a couple of dishes to the order! sujok plate was delicious. Hawawshi was nothing special and half the standard size. Cheese salad was very watery. Omm Ali was also a disappointment. They did not have ice for the drinks. And of course, the credit card machine was out of order! A friend said they were really good when they first opened, that’s no longer the case. Probably...

Good food, but they had a loud and unprofessional waiter with an attitude that made us wait for an order for 4 Hawashi for 1 hour,!! postponing 10 minutes after another, and claiming that it’s the policy of the kitchen to let the pre-prepared food thaw first then cook it !!

When we got home, we had another order instead!! No hotline to complain, nor a direction to get compensated.. It’s a pity how promising the concept is, to be effected by its staff!! This happened New Year’s Eve. At city stars branch, and we were having a great time...

I wouldn’t even give this place one star. I used to love zooba (zamalek). The food was terrible, old and inedible. I got food poisoning after eating just a few spoonfuls of molokhia, rice, and chicken (i didn’t taste it, as it looked impossible to eat). My parents ordered foul and taameya, which tasted awful, but luckily not poisoning.. We should’ve left the moment we saw how empty the place was. On top of that, the service was rude, and no one even bothered to ask why the plates...
