Casper & Gambini's — Restaurant in New Cairo City

Still on my quest to find a good burger in Cairo, so last Friday I gave it another try.

The complimentary bread basket with white cheese is delicious. The bread with cummin is out of this world. It is so good that I thought about asking the waiter if I may take some home. At the end I didn’t have the guts to ask 🙂

This time I went for the Casper & Gambini’s House Burger 172EGP (4/10). The bread was not fresh, it was on the dry crumbly side. I’m not sure if the bun was toasted with garlicky butter which over powered the taste of the burger sauce, or the sauce itself was loaded with garlic. The only thing I tasted was garlic. The beef patty was way overcooked, dry and falling apart. It’s a disappointing burger. To be truly honest, the waiter and the restaurant manager offered me a replacement burger but I apologized. I had already ate more than half and I was getting already full. They even offered s replacement burger takeaway but I also apologized.

The fries were perfect! Golden and crispy from outside and soft from inside and nicely seasoned. One of the best fries I had during this visit to Cairo.

My friend ordered “Chicken Under A Brick” 249 EGP. A marinated half chicken with herbs, served with mashed potato, seasonal vegetables and a soya butter sauce. My friend asked to replace her vegetables with rice. Don’t ask me who eats mashed potatoes and rice? I don’t know either, but we finally found someone who does 🙂 Then she asked our waiter to make sure that both pieces of the chicken are thighs. Anything she requested the staff did it for her. The staff is extremely hospitable, flexible and patient. Let me repeat it again, the staff are very very patient, God bless them. I tried a piece of the chicken after she raved about it non stop. The chicken was juicy and tender. Personally if I want to eat grilled chicken I will go to Abou Shakra. I won’t go to Casper & Gambini for grilled chicken🙂 (I hope she won’t read this review 🙂)

I will go back to Casper & Gambini just for the service. The staff is absolutely amazing.

Thank you Casper for the fries but Gambini you have to work harder to improve...

Loved the food yet my comment would be that the mashed potato needs to have less butter and oil, it was way too greasy When we arrived we were served breadsticks and bread with a side of yogurt/labneh both were fresh and appetizing We ordered 2 chicken plates, the food arrived in around 30 minutes and it was fresh hot I asked for the veggies steamed and they were a bit over cooked, I didn’t mind it but usually they’re more crispy, the chicken was well marinated and tenderly cooked The fried chicken was well breaded and crispy on the outside, the jasmine rice was awesome, probably my favorite item The staff were friendly and helpful Overall i would...

I remember when this place was somewhat acceptable. I ordered escalope, it came pink and uncooked from the inside, pasta didn’t have any taste, orange juice was most definitely made with bad oranges. I didn’t finish my plate, initially I didn’t want to take away the food, out of kindness and respect I did. While giving me the food the waiter flipped the bag numerous times, messed up what was left. The female waiter was lovely and kind however the waiter who flipped the food was rude and unprofessional.
