I had an unforgettable dining experience at Ravintola Kannas in Helsinki! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the lively and welcoming atmosphere both inside and outside the restaurant. The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and quick to ensure everything was perfect. The food, though, is the real highlight. I started with the salmon soup, which was creamy and absolutely loaded with huge, tender chunks of salmon. The texture and flavor were spot on, and it was one of the best I've had in the city. Then came the grilled chicken breast, which far exceeded my expectations! It was tender, perfectly seasoned, and served on a bed of grilled vegetables with a rich brown sauce and topped with grilled goat cheese—a real treat for the palate. But the standout was the giant escalope. If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, this is it. It was massive, well-seasoned, and incredibly tasty—absolutely worth trying. To top it all off, I paired my meal with one of their outstanding beers, which had fruity notes that complemented the meal perfectly. Overall, Ravintola Kannas is a must-visit if you're in Helsinki. Great food, great service, and a lively atmosphere make this place one of my favorites. Highly recommend!

This is a very relaxed restaurant giving me vibes of a “casual family friendly restaurant loved by locals” We attended on a Friday night and the restaurant was fairly full. There was a mix of locals but also tourists. Sadly the service is pretty slow. They had 2 people working the floor which slowed things down when it did get busy. The food is excellent and the servings are very big. The pricing is also quite high so I am pleased they did not skimp on the food. The meatballs were very tasty with a lovely rich sauce served on mashed potatoes. My partner had a burger which was also well served. We had originally come to try the reindeer steak but at 40 Euro’s we opted for more traditional meals. Can recommend this place for a casual meal. Staff spoke good English (though I got orange juice instead of the apple I ordered). Credit cards were accepted.

Absolutely amazing. To be fair, all the food I've had in Finland has been good, but I will always come back to this place to further explore the menu. It has an extensive beverage list as well. The fish appetizer is incredible- mustard and dill herring (best I've ever had), shrimp tatar, hot potatoes, smoked salmon and a soft boiled egg. The hunter sandwich with an incredible mushroom sauce was a winner, and the 'homestyle herring' fish over mashed potatoes was amazing. I only wanted Finnish drinks, so I had a pear cider and a finnish gin with grapefruit. Service was polite and non-intrusive, and the clientele was both locals and tourists which says a lot. The prices were very reasonable as well. I will be back.

Amazing cozy place with excellent customer services 😊 We chose this place since our 1st option wasn't successful without reservation, and we didn't regret. The serving people there are very experienced and their attitude made us very happy during the dinner (always cheery). We didn't reserve a table beforehand but they could still find us one. There were so many people there and it was a bit noisy but we got used to the noise quickly. We drank beer and cider while waiting for the food. It took 25 mins for food to be served. I had grilled steak and my bf had salmon with mushroom sauce. They were very tasty and the food was cooked as we expected. We'll come back to try more food for sure 😍😍😍

NOT WORTH IT. the younger staff lack total respect for their customers since they will keep you waiting forever whether you wand a table, food on your table or the check. We waited for 15 minutes to get to our table and 1 complete hour to get our food even though the place was half full (around 8 tables). The food was simply OK but the long waiting time and unfriendly service makes it not worth at all. It looks like the owner of this place/chain don't want to hire more employees since we only saw 3 people attending the bar and the tables all by themselves, so it is easy to understand the angry mood of those poor people.

When it finally arrived, the food was simple and hearty; however, the very slow service upset many of your patrons while waiting for the slow kitchen to prepare dishes (over 1 hr for only a few tables). Wouldn't come here hungry again as I'm not sure if this night in particular they were understaffed or this is typical for this place. Offering the diners at least small nibbles like bread and butter or pickles to improve guest experience in this situation would have been nice. Especially as our bill was close to 100€...Waitresses were very polite at least.
