A Culinary Canvas at Goose Patabar:ø
Stepping into Goose Patabar was like stepping into a warm embrace – my grandma's living room, to be precise. The vintage furniture whispered stories of times gone by, creating an atmosphere so calming, stress simply melted away. Perhaps it was also the service, delivered with a delightful Finnish languor. Explanations flowed like honey, unhurried yet ensuring everyone was looked after.
But the true magic lay in the wine service – a symphony for the senses! Here, choosing your tipple wasn't a blind date, but a waltz of discovery. You were invited to taste until you found the perfect partner for your meal – a concept so delightful, but hidden away from people there don't no this place.
Now, the outside world may have buzzed with anticipation (evidenced by the eager 200m queue waiting for a table!), but inside, Goose Patabar remained a tranquil haven. Here, people reveled in the food, the wine, and most importantly, the impeccable service.
The portions, while not opera-house buffets, were like perfectly composed haiku – small but bursting with flavor. My experience:
The Tartar. Imagine a masterpiece of textures and tastes, a concerto of ingredients that had the angels themselves humming in approval.
The Pasta Pesto. This was like having my Nonna, a Neapolitan saint of pasta-making, personally grace my table. Freshness personified, it was a testament to the simple perfection of good ingredients.
The Rhubarb Pancakes. A sweet finale, a playful dance of sweet and citrus on the palate. It was like a Monet sunrise translated into edible form.
Goose Patabar is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. It's a chance to savor good food, good company, and a touch of Finnish serenity – all served with a generous dollop of warmth and a dash of delightful surprise.
I will be back, if there...

Keep in mind that if you go during Finnish lunch time (11:00am), the pasta choices are different than the ones offered at dinner! The majority of photos here refer to dinner dishes so don't get carried away. You will get disappointed like me!
I' m a mushroom pasta lover so I didn't want to leave Helsinki without tasting their dish. However, they were closed for 2 days in a row and the only chance I could visit them was half an hour before leaving for the airport. Although I was carrying a trolley bag for 20 mins, I managed to be there before they open. When I arrived, they told me they cannot make my portobello dish - it was an option only for dinner time! I proposed carbonara, they refused again. I asked if they could at least ask the staff at kitchen and try. They didn't even bother!
Just left. Huge disappointment! Please inform for your menu via your channels and give value to...
Read moreSo, I am no local but a tourist and student who truly enjoyed their stay at this restaurant, tonight. The employees were very and truly (!) friendly and were also great to chat with.😉 The food was great as well, I was so eager to eat a second serving, hence why I spend 40 € there. It isn't something I could financially afford to do on a regular basis, however, in combination with the restaurant's ambience (cozy, yet kind of elegant, but not too "posh") it makes quite a great place to hang around with friends/colleagues (especially after a tiresome day of work). So if you find yourself as a tourist in Helsinki I'd say check it out!
Since I got to chat with multiple employees there, I can confirm that they are quite famous among locals! If you don't wanna wait in a long line, and enjoy a less full restaurant, better go on a weekday, because it seems to be especially full on weekends. My colleagues and I were conveniently there in the middle of...
